  • I think the GI diet suggests a 40g dry weight portion size of wholemeal pasta for the initial weight loss stage and a 60g portion for weight maintainance.

Another thing that made them giggle was the name given to the smallest hole on the guage. Of course nobody would want to buy a "small" condom so guess what Durex called the smallest gauge size?

Berlisconi (sorry about spelling) the leader in Italy was getting concerned about the Italian waistlines, suggested 50g per person. Our weight watcher leader suggested one mug full of dried pasta per person. Regarding spaghetti I use about a banana thickness per person, but that is a lot, I think I should cut it down a bit though.

Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.

I woulda thought its what you put ON the pasta that makes it either fattening or not. I have recently discovered that wheat causes me a problem. I knew something was giving me cramps and bloating so I did an elimination diet and it was the wheat! The problem sometimes added 2 inches to my stomach and it was not real fat at all;) If I avoid wheat or keep it to a minimum my stomach is flat.
I found the corn pasta much more filling than the wheat stuff!

I do one handfull per person for dried pasta. As in tip a quantity in a bowl, grab a hand full and put in saucepan. With enough water to cover, stir once then leave well alone.
