This page might help you. It's from an Aussie travel show that's pretty informative.

Great pics Colin.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Thanks. I see you have a linkto getaway. We were lucky enough to see Ben Dark up in katherine in the middle of August. He was doing the announcements at the Katherine festival. We had a great trip which was

Fly to Brisbane
Next Day fly to Vanuatu on Virgin Blue
4 night in Vanuatu at the Benjour Beach
Back to Brisbane and next day fly to Adelaide
Pick up hire car and drive up to Darwin.
Stopped at

Wilpena Pound for 2 nights
Port Augusta
Coober Pedy
Uluru (rained :-( )
Kings Canyon
Alice Springs
Tennent Creek
Katherine
Kakadu
Darwin
Fly to Sydney for 4 nights

As always in Australia we had a fantastic time. We love it so much we keep going back time after time.

Funnily enough we just climbed that (well actually walked up it) - took about 30 minutes .... quite steep ... but I would also recommend that you drive up to the top of Mt Macedon .... follow the signs for the Cross ... on a good day you can see Melbourne .... Mt Macedon is north of Sunbury, near Woodend ... (both are close to each other - Hanging Rock costs $10 to get into).

As to the Great Ocean Road, well we drove it .... much better than taking a tour ... you can stop where you want to ...

I would also recommend Penguin Island .... BUT make sure you book in advance, as they were turning people away when we were there a few years back. You would need to book a hotel or similar, as the penguins return from the ocean at dusk.

If you have a car, it's perfectly possible to go down to Phillip Island (Penguin Island is not its real name) and get back up in the same day, it's just a long day. We've done it plenty of times.

Hi,

Your right of course ... but as we were touring, it was easier for us to stop there ...

Absolutely Mark, I wasn't implying you were wrong :), just pointing out the options. As I said, it is a long day if you drive down and back the same day so it all depends on your situation.

Australia is truly a great place to go on a long vacation with family and friends and share some rare and memorable moments. There are number of must visit places, one of them is gold coast. It is fantastic and quite a romantic place, I personally love it. The hotels are also good and are affordable too. Has anyone had similar experience?
