Just back from Matalan,
all xmas decorations  & gift sets reduced
& now lots of party wear for adults & kids ( also check the back of any full priced items you are thinking of buying, if the bar code has been highlighted that means its going into the sale when it starts on 26/12)

As a Matalan employee I can exclusively reveal that although the sale isn’t meant to start until boxing day, it will be going live tomorrow – Christmas eve. Therefore, if you happen to go into a store this evening then all the sale goods will be in the process of being ticketed and if you are lucky may get the items at the sale price (the prices will need to be overridden at the till points), I know that our store will be doing this. I also wouldn’t necessary go by the highlighted marks on the labels as proof that the item will be in sale, all sale things will be ticketed and gunned with the correct prices. Furthermore, our store will also have a small section of the leftovers from last year’s sale these items will all be £3, £2 or £1 – I’ve been told that these items will be skipped if not purchased within a week or so. And finally, be extra considerate to the till people like myself as you will probably find that quite a few sale items will not go through the tills at the sale price and will have to be overridden, this can be a little time consuming and you can do your bit by also checking that the prices for each item bought go through correctly as its quite easy to miss the odd one. This will greatly save yourself time and hassle as you will have to queue up at customer services to get the mistakes sorted.

I've heard that M & S are starting their sale on Christmas Eve.

It may not be true but I work in retail & our head office have told us in anticipation of us being busier but as I haven' t seen it advertised I may be wrong but if your out and about anyway it may be worth checking out.

Not wanting to bore people about this, but thinking about it a bit more, surely 26th is always boxing day and it is just the bank holiday that is the first weekday after christmas day. ::)

Peacocks' sale starts officially on the 26/12/04. There are mark-downs throughout the store; some nice stuff going in the sale.

Check the tickets of anything you buy before then. If it's to be reduced it'll have P& then the price which it will go down to. You should be able to hold these items until after the 26th. You can in the Liverpool store.
