My daughter works in Tescos. She came home today complaining it's been the busiest day since Christmas, possibly people in to buy flowers etc for tomorrow but said the average spend was still over £60.

I was in tesco about quarter to eight this morning to get the flowers. When i went in there were 4 bunches in a small bucket. On leaving there was one left so feel very lucky as they are gorgeous and i have lots of brownie (babysitting??;)) points from my mum.

I too have been in tescos today - didnt see many flowers but didnt want any which was lucky. However the store was packed solid anyone would think it was Christmas eve!

Hope you managed to get something else instead of the flowers.

I think you are forgetting one thing here though, Tesco is not a charity.
Chances are they would have comprimised on their profits for the flowers (compaired to other mothers day going rates), and made sure they would not order loads, then they will advertise the few at the cheap price heavily. Then people will come flocking to Tesco to get a good bargin, and the inevitable will happen - They will run out.
So those people who went for the cheaper advertised flowers will not want to go back empty handed (as a wasted trip is rather annoying) and they will buy the more expensive flowers (which they most probably ordered many).
I would expect the cheap flowers were just a devise to get customers to their flower stands, i doubt Tesco were planning to sell them in a large quantity.
Sorry you didn't get the flowers, i tried too and didn't get any - but at the end of the day i guess Tesco never misses a trick either.
  • Get up earlier next time. Simple as that. You obviously thought they would sell out quickly as you "woke up early" to go get them. Why complain because you missed it just because far more many people got up earlier than you.
Great offers sell quickly. If they had enough stocks to supply every person who could possibly want them then it wouldnt really be an offer, just a product line.
Watch out, you never know who is about.

I went to tescos today to get flowers, nothing left, ok, so maybe thats the risk you take, but unlike most of the other supermarkets they had not ordered in extra just the usual sized stand.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
