Whinge about Tescos

Hi all
Just thought I would post this inthe hope that it will prove to be cathartic. I got up early this morning (well, for a Saturday anyway!) to get my wife one of the oft advertised £5 bouquets from Tescos from my daughter. I got there at 8 this morning and they had none left! This sort of thing really winds me up! I really hate it when a shop advertises fantastic offers and then never supplies enough for the demand! Let's face it, they should have supplied enough to see the shop passed 8am! I really must stop getting suckered into these phantom 'fabulous offers' and just ignore future Tesco adverts.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I really wanted to get this off my chest!

I have a rant with Tescos too. The last online shop I did (and it will be the last) was only half delivered. I've added up what they did deliver and I havn't been charged for anything I didnt get but it meant I had to go out shopping again a few days later and get everything they left out. Defeats the object really. I won't be online shopping with them again.
Also today I went in there because they were advertising BOGOF chickens. They had all sold out.
I think you can always tell if a supermarket charge too much for their stuff when theres loads of people hovering around their reduced items.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Totally opposite experience to both of you today. Plenty of flowers in store and also plenty of the BOGOF chickens.
I picked up a bargain joint of topside from a local butcher today so haven't got room for the chicken unfortunately.0 -
black-saturn did you phone Tescos and complain. Asda did the same thing to me last week when I phoned to complain the manager said he was sorry. Took a list of the missing items and sent another driver off his route to bring them to me.
I was very impressed well done to Asda.0 -
have to admit our tesco's today was stacked high with BOGOF chickens and flowers , and that was after 2pmWeight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0

I suppose they can't win on a busy weekend for flowers if the advertise a good deal it will be popular, like Bossyboots I noticed lots of flowers available in our local store this morning, didn't look at chicken as I don't buy meat from supermarkets. I also don't buy flowers as I prefer to support local traders all year round, I don't suffer the price hike as I am a regular customer.0

Firstly, sorry I didn't post on the rant board. Secondly, I guess I appear to have been unlucky as other people have found loads of flowers...story of my life!
Nearlyrich- your comments on I guess they can't win, everyone knows mothers day is huge for flowers and a good offer will fly off the shelves, so if Tesco didn't realise this someone in the planning department needs a boot up the jacksy. But as I said - just plain unlucky, maybe I shouldn't be so quick to moan (but it is what I do best!)0 -
I did but they said that was all they received in the order. It wasnt what I ordered as I remember ordering tinned tomatos and bags of frozen veggies which I got nothing of.
I didnt bother arguing as I only got what I paid for anyway. From now on I'm only going to shop at Iceland and then arrange to have it delivered. At least I'll know what I'm getting.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -

Did you ask or did you see the empty buckets.
If it was the latter it could well have been that they had yet to be delivered. As when I worked in a supermarket being the shelf stacking fairy many moons ago. Often after shift I would go shopping so not get of the shop until 8am. And the flowers where just being delivered then.
And the boxes being put out on the shop floor.

I had a similar problem. I went to my local Tesco at 1pm - one of the largest in the UK and went straight to the Flower section - no £5 offer flowers. I spoke to a person who looked in charge of the flower section and he told me that they'd sold out, adding that they'd sold 10,000 bunches since Thursday. I didn't believe this and told him, adding that I thought it was just a con to get people in the store. 10 minutes later, there was an announcement asking me to go to the flower department - he took me straight to several buckets full of the £5 bouquets - not in the Flower section, on the opposite side!!!
I like many people had walked straight past them, because we were looking on the right hand side for flowers. Having then not found them, I proceeded into the store, but had no reason to look at the side where the offer flowers were. I'll let you draw you own conclusions - I'm sure you can guess mine.
As for the bouquet - they were certainly worth £5, but I think the £10 full price (as advertised) was pushing it - I would have got better value from the local florist.0
