Well done Chelltune!
You did well sticking to your £50, or near enough! I went to Asda yesterday and spent £32.89 and I will probably only need some bread and milk till end of the week. I do have enough meat in the freezer at the minute, to last until the end of the month, so maybe next month might be harder!
Do you include clothes and shoes in your budget or are they separate?
Cheers! :jSept. grocery challenge = £500 (221.60 so far!;))0 -

This is really my first time taking part in any of the challenges.
Things are starting to get tight with money and we want to clear our debts so cutting down on everything.
I want to stick to a budget of £30 a week for groceries which includes pk of nappies.0 -
Hi busymomma of 22! i take it that 22 is your age and not the amount of kids, cos if it is I think £30 a week might be a bit tight! :rotfl:
How many are there of you in your family? Is anyone fussy? How many nappies do you go through?
You can manage if you really put your mind to it. Don't know what I'm on about as I haven't officially started my challenge, will do at end of April. :jSept. grocery challenge = £500 (221.60 so far!;))0 -

Hi SEA78! How many are there of you if you don't mind me asking? I think £250 is what I should be spending for a family of me, hubby, 3YO and 1YO so would be great to know how you did the £18.19 one. Very disciplined!!Sept. grocery challenge = £500 (221.60 so far!;))0

Hiya,
There is 2 adults, one 5 year old and one 2 year old.
We usually only buy 1 pk of nappies which lasts us 2 weeks.
They can be fussy but i'm not giving in to them anymore, i am so sick of making 2-3 different meals.
We're going to find it so hard as we are used to eating out 3 times a week and to be honest i just can't afford it anymore.0 -
Well I've overspent this week :embarasse but its not too bad, I havent wasted any money  I went shopping with my daughter, she has money to spend and just cant get rid of it, typical isnt it? I ended up spending money in Wilkinsons and then we went to Asda on the way home and spent money there. We're over budget by £30 now, but I've got the weekend sorted, and I'm gonna make sure we survive on £20 next week. Most of the stuff I bought was cleaning stuff and toiletries in Wilko, and I needed a new washing basket, so included that when I was adding everything up, normally I would have got a more expensive, fancy one and put it on my credit card, but when your counting every penny you think twice and go for practical, which is good cos it will last longer than the last one.
Good luck to everyone who has just started the challenge, this site has been really helpful for me, you will all do well, but if you do slip up, dont worry, you can get yourself back on track, I'm trying my hardest.

Well I've got a bit sidetracked due to OH starting his new job on Tuesday night... have had to keep him well supplied with Lucozade! I'm pretty sure I'm still within my budget, and there is still plenty of food in the freezer (for once)!
Have to say I'm really impressed by all of you who are managing to stick to a budget, when you have kids, that I would find hard to stick to (hope that didn't sound too patronising). So a big clap on the back for all of us so far this month and keep it up!!! :TDFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

I'll be shopping tomorrow morning (very early! to avoid the crowds). I really need to come inside my budget of £30 but I'm thinking that it won't be possible this week. OH is out with his kids and grandchild today - I've been excused because of not wanting to pass on a stinking cold!!) I may get a 'phone call soon to say that they all decending for megga meals on Sunday & Monday:eek: . He'll have to be up mighty early tomorrow to give me instructions before I go shopping 'cos I'm sure I'll be tucked up and asleep before he gets home tonight! I'm not a natural cook either, so 'special' meals take a bit of planning for me (especially as his offspring have unreasonably (in my opinion) high expectations of me in the food department. Keep your fingers crossed for me:easter:0
