Anyone transferred to M&S?

I've got money in Barclays Tax Haven and the Tax Beater (I was lazy last year and didn't move it) and I was wanting to move all this to the M&S ISA.

Anyone done this? I was looking at the application and I believe it asks you for account no. and sort code of the account. Do you put the details of your current account or the the Barclays ISA accounts?

Bit confused and I know transferring ISAs can be a pain but the interest in Barclays in woeful.

The account details that M&S need is those of the ISA account - for multiple accounts, you usually have to complete a separate transfer form for each one.
  • I'm in the middle of transferring my Barclays Tax Haven ISA to M&S. So far it's been a month from posting the transfer form to M&S to Barclays doing . . . nothing.

I've phoned M&S twice for progress reports and while they are as helpful as they can be, they are waiting for Barclays to process the transfer and send them a cheque (God knows why 18th century processes are still being used in the 21st century).

I'll be going into my branch tomorrow to find out Barclays' [STRIKE]excuses[/STRIKE] explanation.

    Grrrr
  • Iam also transferring from a Barclays Tax Haven isa to M&S, and it is painfully slow. Barclays phoned me last night to tell me the interest rate on their current Golden Isa has now dropped to 2.5%. In the process of this conversation Barclays checked they have recieved the closure notice (they have) and that it has not been actioned within their guidelines that it should be done within 2 days of receipt of the closure notice and the customer informed within 5 days! They agreed this was poor and said I should phone the Isa helpline for which they couldn't find the number!!!

Does anyone know if I can transfer this years cash isa to another provider from the Barclays golden isa since the rate has now dropped?

You can transfer a Cash ISA at any time, subject to Terms & Conditions and as long as the new provider accepts transfers.

If you opened your Golden ISA on or before 31st May, the rate hasn't dropped - the 1% bonus has currently only been withdrawn for accounts opened from 1st June, see http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?task=popup1group&value=16154&target=_blank&site=pfs.

I transferred from Scottish Widows to M&S.

From my working out it took four weeks from my sending my transfer form to Scottish Widows closing my account and then another three weeks when I got everything through from M&S.
  • To update – Barclays’ in-branch customer services weren’t terribly helpful – they didn’t have a phone number for Barclays Savings (who manage the ISAs) but did track down an address if I wanted to write to them (same as the one on my statements!).

I scoured Barclays’ website and found a phone number (contact us/find a phone number/“S” for saving & investments/cash ISA & savings bonds). They could see the closure notice on screen and – surprise! – it would be actioned that day (Friday) and the cheque posted to M&S on Monday (so not earning their admittedly pitiful interest rate over the weekend).

Nothing was mentioned about their guideline timescales – I shall be following this up . . .
  • M&S Money phoned me w/c June 15 (can't remember the exact date) and said they'd opened my account with them. They had received the money from Barclays on June 10, apologised for their own delay in opening the account and would backdate to June 10. All the paperwork has now come through with the correct dates (and amounts!). Overall 25 working days from posting transfer form to M&S to account open (another week for the paperwork to arrive).

Shame the rate has gone down, otherwise excellent customer service from M&S Money.
