I just hope that everyone is ok, and that it is a technical issue that has caused this

I hate to sy it but looks like its gone down. It was meant to land 2.5 hours ago and still no contact.
My thoughts are with the families of those involved awaiting news. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Air France say it would have run out of fuel by now.
They think it went down approx 180 miles off the coast of Brasil - this doesn't make any sense though:
Plane left Rio at 2200GMT last night.
Contact was lost at 0600 GMT, 8 hours into the flight.
It was due in Paris at 0910GMT, three hours after it 'went missing'.
This would put the plane very close to the Canaries (3 hrs 10 minutes from Paris), not close to Brasil.
So when did it disappear then? If they are looking close to the coast of Brasil it must have been a lot earlier than they are saying - probably 0200 GMT I would say.
If they really do have 4 hours worth of the Atlantic to search, it is going to be some time before anything is found.
Also, if it is mid-Atlantic, the black box could be in the deepest part of the Atlantic - ie unrecoverable.
EDIT: They are now saying that contact was lost 3.5 hours into the flight, much earlier than 6.00am GMT.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

This is a complete tragedy. My heart and prayers go out to the families involved. I returned on an Air France flight myself from Los Angeles last Thursday. It's very sobering to think how lucky we all are.0
