  • I'm afraid not. It's very difficult to predict how long the process would take but I think 18 to 24 months is stretching it a bit.

The bank aren't obliged to offer you a refund even if they agree to your hardship status so I think it would be unlikely the FOS would really be able to help to be honest but you could try.

I didn't mean to cause an 'issue'!

But back to the question then - am I assuming there is no set time scale the FOS have to deal with the case in?
You didn;t cause an issue, but your reaction to being told almost 2 years for a financial hardship claim was IMHO spurious and incorrect and dunstonh had been told before with regards to quoting it which is why I politely got involved. We are all friends on here and in spite of our views, I think we all respect each others points of view even if it reads differently.

I didnt say it was 2 years for hardship claim. Check my post #2.

Read post 3 for their reaction to your statement. You said they are taking 18-24 months on "normal complaints" which even according to their own statistics is incorrect. The OP then answers "Thanks - though hope it's quicker than that".
It may not have been meant to read as you stated it, but unfortunately it came across as misleading. Quicker than 18-24 months is misleading when someone interprets you are talking about bank charges cases.

Call them and ask them how long it is likely to take to deal with your complaint if you have already made it to the FOS.
