Mobile/USB Broadband - Found One, Is This The Best?

Need to find/get USB broadband.

The plan is:
- get this
- ditch my virginmedia broadband at home (which gives me a cr4ppy 2.4MB connection)
- use this at home on my PC and occasionally on my laptop when away, but I will be moving sometime in the next 12 months to could be anywhere so it makes keeping online easier if/when I do

Need about 5GB/month really, this one seems to be 15GB, £15/month

"offer" appears to end at midnight tonight - and I need to order it today as I'm going away for 3-7 days later this week, so will need it then.

Do you get coverage where you live, and is it 3G (up to about 1mbit) or HSPDA (the fancy "up to" 2.8mbit they offer).

I have no idea... I assumed I would.
No idea about 3G/HSPDA (new term entirely to me)

I did a postcode check on both addresses on another website/another firm earlier and it got full coverage... now you've asked, I guess they're all different ..?

I just checked. It's borderline very good/good where I live - and it's very good where I'll be next week.

any mobile broadband depends on 2 things , singnal strength and how people are using the cell .
If your in the country the coverage might be up and down i find it good for a back up system but would not like to use it full time

Without reliable 3G you will be on dial up speeds. This is why mobile broadband is not currently a proper substitute for ADSL broadband. If there is no alternative it's better than nothing, but also expensive.

Watch out with three if you're in borderline coverage areas - if there is no HSPDA signal, and no 3G signal, it won't work.

All other providers (t-mobile etc) will use the 2G signal to connect (GPRS - dial-up speeds) which, whilst slow, is still a connection none the less.

I use vodafone mobile broadband and I haven't had any problems with it.

It is fast enough for browsing the internet, although downloading is quite slow.

£15 per month for 12 months, 3gb usage, with £90 cashback via quidco (this has gone down now though, £40 I think?).

It is obviously slower than broadband, but I don't have a landline and Virgin wanted a £100 deposit for their broadband (repayable after the contract had finished, so 12 months later!).

That's not true. When there's no 3G coverage, Three uses the Orange network. So wherever you can get Orange, you can use Three.

I dont think it would ever be quite a bad as 56k! I mean, even mobile phone providers run faster then that nowadays.

Still yeah, ever the best mobile broadband providers might be slow in areas. Try to fish around for a [url=http://www.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband
