Dog eating less in the heat?

Our puppy (7 months) is very noticeably eating less ever since the sun came out - is this normal, she is quite hairy and getting over-heated? She's very happy to scavenge whatever she can find on walks and beg for treats and otherwise seems very happy and healthy.

I'd say it was quite normal.
Humans tend to eat less when it's hot. As long as she is drinking plenty, I wouldn't worry0 -
I'm going to stick my neck out here and say 2 things:
1. Its not hot. Clients obsess about this in the UK every time the thermometer creeps over 18C. Having worked in the UAE... Its not hot, get over it.
2. If there has been a reduction in appetite this can be due to many things - are all the permanent teeth through? Is this just an adjustment for the age? Keep an eye on the weight and I would be surprised if it is reducing or not continuing to go upGarantissez-moi de mes amis, je saurai me defendre de mes ennemis0 -

Fair point.
You are right it isn't hot compared to UAE, but it is hot for here, and the dog will be used to UK temperatures.0 -
mine has been the same she's been skipping breakfast and not eating till later in the evening when its cooled down abit, yet if i make a sarnie she there in a heartbeat for cheese...0

She might also be trying it on ... treats taste MUCH better than boring ole dog food ... he he!
My vet told me that when it gets hot and my dog gets a bit sluggish I can do no better than put one dioralyte sachet in his drinking water.
(One sachet in the big full bowl) ... he's not a big drinker but even after a small drink, within half an hour he is back bouncing again, even when it is really really hot weather!
I get the plain flavour ones ... you can get all manner of flavours but my vet said just use the plain ones BUT ... I don't know if you would be able to give them to a puppy ... I know it is fine for ADULT dogs but if you think your puppy is going off a bit with the weather, then I would phone and ask the vet.0 -

What does your heat rant have to do with the question? I didn't even say it was hot! Her lack of appetite began directly when it became hotter than usual, hence me asking if this is usual in the heat.0 -
My little man tends not to eat as much during the day when it's hot, then he will eat his breakfast at 6pm and look for his dinner about 7pm :rolleyes:0

My mutt doesn't stop eating for anyone or anything - she'd have to be dead to stop munching away! All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I have looked this up today as yesterday my border left his food and its so unusual but he is also on antibiotics too. It does say on lots of sites its quite normal cause of the temperature changes. He has however eaten today.0 -
Mine eats less also when its warmer than usual (ie Hot
)
I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0
