I see First Direct have now stopped giving out their free prepaid envelopes so we now have to pay when sending them cheques through the post.

I've been with FD for over 14 years, and I've never had any prepaid envelopes from them."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

I use HSBC or get people to pay direct into my account, I have some postage paid envelopes but have rarely needed to use them in 17 years of dealing with them.0

Only ever used them once or twice to post them postdated cheques the day before, if I couldnt get to the bank.0

I post cheques away to FD quite a bit, so I'm not best pleased at this. I'm surprised by it - it's not like them. Credit crunch must be biting!Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0

Maybe there's just not enough demand for them anymore? I doubt that the cost was all that massive to them, so it's hardly likely to be anything to do with the so-called credit crunch.
Also - were the envelopes just labeled up as a Freepost address? Just write that on another envelope. What would William Shatner do?0 -
