If all lanes were open it shouldn't cause any jams. Just like the muppets staring at accidents it is all the people that get frightened and cause the congestion. Like when the police sit doing 60 on the motorway and everyone is to scared to pass them at around 70 so slow to 61mph and inch past them! Very annoying. Actually you can often get stuck in a queue past the Fort anyway to Eurocentral or M74 cut-off as it is one lane.

In the end ANPR is very effective in catching uninsured drivers and some of the nonsense that goes with it- and is that not what we want the police to do?

its 3 lanes at this point right outside the fort junction heading east, the m73 slip is 2 junctions away. i drive this road regularly, its never as busy as this unless theres an accident.

In fact, I'm very glad that they do things like this. If it means I have to wait an extra 10 mins, then so be it.

try 45 minutes, not 10, unfortunatly some folk have things to do places to be etc.. not happy to sit in a que being treated like a criminal. until thier computer says your ok.

You are of course aware of the numbers of uninsured, unlicensed, untaxed drivers on the roads, who we all pay for in our insurance premiums? (what is is reckoned to be, 10+% of cars now?)

you honestly beleive that your premium will come down by 10% if every single car is insured? so with the increase in the use of all this anpr why are our premiums not being significantly reduced.

is everyone aware that criminal or not when you pass these anpr cameras your little jaunt past the camera has been logged onto the database for 2 years. apparently middlesboroughs whole cctv network has been linked up to the anpr database. so you are constantly being monitored, watched and recorded.

Its worse than you thought Goldspanners, they actually intend keeping it for 5 years.

The Uk has less than 1% of the worlds population but can boast over 60% of the worlds cctv cameras (We have around 4.5 million cctv cameras which is 1 camera for every 14ish people)

If you missed your check in time at the airport and thus your flight,
would you be "glad" the police had delayed you ??
when a bit of forethought over the positioning of the ANPR sting
would not have caused you any delay
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.

You would complain more if the police never did these checks and then you were hit by an uninsured driver.

the stereotypical uninsured driver wont be too bothered about another slap on the wrists will they? if the punishment fitted the crime then fair enough, but generally it doesnt,a little fine and a few points,if they even have a liscence that is.

police vehicles are fitted with this anpr equiptment, rather than have road blocks and check points just go about thier routine patrol buisness and catch the uninsured drivers then.
