Well with credit cards, it was agreed that £12 is a reasonable maximum. I don't know how far you'd get with challenging the £14 - how many charges are you talking here? - it may well take more than it's worth.
With bank charges it's a little different as the charges can mount for many into hundred of pounds every month which are obviously unjustified. BG could argue that the £14 isn't only the cost of a letter, but all the additional admin/chasing that a late payment will incur."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
