  • Hi

Glad you had a good shopping trip. It's always nice to get new clothes. I need to get some Winter boots, I'm trying to talk OH into agreeing for me to sell my car, he is against the idea but I would prefer to have £2k to pay off my credit cards, if I did it would mean walking to the school twice a day but I'm fed up of the debt and even though 2k won't pay it off it would reduce the interest plus I would save about £60-70 a month on Diesel, plus I wouldn't have car insurance to pay.

Hope you have a good evening, I shall be Ebaying tonight, X-Factor is on but am a bit fed up of it now.

  • Meant to ask - do Primark clothes last long? I stopped buying the kids clothes there as the t-shirts were really thin and their sizing seemed a bit small. They have a big one in Hammersmith so might go and have a look one day when DD2 starts school full time.

mine have always been ok, admittedly after a fair few washes, tumble drying and multiple wearing the jumpers do shrink up, but then thats probably my washing.....

I've never really had a problem, things like dresses etc dont have a great finish, but for the most part its all good.
I love primark and could and would spend a small fortune in there.....

could you not sell your car and then just get a really cheap little runabout for just in case moments?

  • Hi CAFC - I shall have to have a good browse round Primark one day when I'm on my own.

My OH has a car (automatic so I don't drive it). I don't really want to have to pay for petrol or road tax or insurance. My car costs £205 a year for road tax I was only able to do 6 months and had to put that on my credit card.

I just think that I'd rather sell it while it goes OK rather than keep it and something major go wrong with it so that I have no money and no car that I can use. I just can't afford to pay for it if it goes wrong.

Waiting for OH to come in from work, he's bringing in McDonalds as we have no food and hopefully the paper and a kit kat, I'm desperate for chocolate.

ive got a kit kat chunky which is whispering to me and im trying to keep busy!!!!

If you do go to a primark, go early in the morning when there arent crowds and its relatively tidy, we went at 1pm and it was manic!

If you can survive without it, id say get rid of the car......and use those pennies for the greater good!!!!

I know that the queues are really long if you go late in the day. When DD2 goes to school all day (beg of Oct) I'll drop them off one day and drive to Hammersmith with DD3 and go and look around.

I could survive without the car, would just have to get used to walking to the school it only takes 20 minutes, I would make sure we had warm coats and boots for when it got really cold/rained/snowed but the money is more use to me than the car. We have everything we need on our doorstep, buses, Iceland, Chip Shop, Hairdressers, Newagent and Post Office, Discount store, Library, Dry Cleaners, Off Licence, Spa, Burger bar, pub x 2. And I could do Tesco orders to be delivered and if I wanted to go anywhere far then OH could take me when he's home from work as he does shift work.

The more I think about it the more I want to do it and we really need the exercise too, it's not healthy driving everywhere.

  • Bless OH, I asked him to bring me in a Kit Kat and he bought me a pack of 5 bars (4 sticks in each).

Shame the kids saw them so I'll have to share them now.

hi Cafcgirl - sounds like there are a few jobs around for you to apply for then - best of luck!

TMD - I would probably sell the car too in your position. On primark - I have found for kids clothes they have been absolutely fine. Got a beautiful cotton dress with sequins on for £6 a couple of years ago and it is still in perfect condition now for my 6 year old... had shorts and tshirts and hoodies from there for DD no problem. My DS's tshirts and shirts from their have also been absolutely fine from a washing point of view!- on adult sizes - they never seem to make them quite big enough / or they shrink (that is my story and I am sticking with it).:rotfl:
