Dead S.E W850I after firmware update

My mate has a w850i and the screen was just all white one morning when he turned it on, I told him to try a software update using SEUS, it said he had the latest firmware so he tried reinstalling it, his phone went dead half way through the process and now it wont power on at all, not even when he plugs it into charge, he didnt make a backup of his phone, so is there anything he can do to bring it back to life ? I have the phone here with me as will try and fix it for him if possible.
