If half the money they get from car tax was spent on the roads the uk would be a half decent place to drive in!

I far prefer them spending the money on moat cleaning and church donations than the roads that keep me and my car safe and sound!!!

Why is car tax a rip off? Dont you drive on the road, The funds are for the upkeep of the roads. If we didnt have road tax we would still be driving on dirt tracks.

One other thought on this, my parents live on a private roads that is not maintained by the council, residents all club together to pay for anything. Does this mean they should pay reduced car tax then?!?! The funds definately don't upkeep their road!

(In which case I want a reduction for when I go for Sunday roast!!) :rotfl:

  • the tax going up in the budget always used to catch me too. Last time I just renewed mine 2 weeks early so I got the old price. I now have a sparkly new car road tax £35 a year. Better than the old one which was well over £200

Its a matter of minutes to renew on line rather than having to find all your documents and trail to the post office.
