I have had one for a few years and it's great. If you have other Nationwide products (Credit card, e-savings etc) you can access them through the online Flex Account also.
Having done a lot of travelling I can vouch for it being quite handy when abroad!Saving for a deposit: £20,551 / £25,000 - 82% of the way there...0 -
Yes its very good, ive got one but not used it abroad yet, if you do an internet application make sure its the flexaccount you get as i applied for 1 and i got the account with a debit card whereas my mum who has a better credit rating than me appllied for a flexaccount but all the got as an atm card and not a debit card0

OP, you said you wanted the account for savings, why not open a higher interest savings account?0 -

It's quicker to apply in the branch rather than online.0

on that note then glad you pointed that out, i would have thought my mum would have been offered an account with a debit card but obviously not0 -
It is an excellent bank account for using abroad ... although there is a small charge outside Europe, it's still way ahead of the competition.
They recently stopped paying any interest on the account, so if you are in credit on your current account for most/all of the month, you may not want to use it as your main account.0 -

even so, there are no charges for use of debit card in the EU and only 1% elsewhere ... so much better than almost every other curent account
