Lone parent pilot scheme

  • btw they will accept a projected self-employed income for this and for WFTC purposes. You have to be fairly sure of your figures for WFTC but I found the New Deal bods and their computer system v. helpful for this, together with https://www.entitledto.co.uk .

Initially, I said I would work 20 hours a week for a small wage per hour. I think we settled on £5 as you can earn up to about £100 a week without it changing the initial WFTC assessment. It does mean that you have to do rudimentary accounts for the WFTC annual review but then the assessment is based on your profits after allowable expenses. My adviser wanted to see me after a few weeks to check it was all going according to plan and will see me again after three or so months, I think. I think this is all part of the New Deal package.

also to add, that if you are looking for work, and have this http://www.workdirections.co.uk/ in your area then they will do allsorts of job seeking help including providng grants for clothes for interviews, travel fares and other "lump sum" payments to help with that transition from benefits to work

All the best of luck to anyone job hunting!

Yes i get the In Work bonus from next week as i start my new job tomorrow :j I get £40 a week for 52 weeks, but because i don't want to rely on it and feel the difference after the 52 weeks, i will save the £40 a week for a car and driving lessons :D

I'm very nervous of tomorrow, i havn't worked since 92  My belly is doing allsorts :o

Where did you find the information? Have you got any links? Would it be £40 for someone who found full time work at £30,000 per annum or is that just the maximum for someone on low paid work of 16 hours eg.?

It's totally unfair to have pilot areas though that can receive this whereas their neighbours can't, especially as £40 is a substantial amount if you are going from IS/JSA into work.

I got it in my area, my sister didn't in hers which isn't fair

not to mention the £250 grant they pay aswell.. nice little bonus for reutrning to work..

speak to your local JC about this..

I had to go last week for my work focused interview as per usual.. and the advisor there told me all about it..

Now to find a Job for 16 hrs..

Also you keep your child maintenance without it effecting your credits :D So if you get £50 CM and £40 IN Work then thats £90 a week on top of your credits  Doesn't sound fair to those in full time work does it

    Good luck!

I was nervous when I went back to work, and I'd only been off a couple of years. You'll be fine once you get there :)

Have you seen the Lone Parent Advisor at the Job Centre? As I'd been out of work and was going back to a job that required business wear, she gave me some sort of clothing grant. I can't remember what it was called, but I got a voucher to spend at Dorothy Perkins. I was allowed to buy 2 smart blouses and 2 smart skirts or trousers with it. It's worth asking to see if you are entitled to anything like that.
Here I go again on my own....
