Giving letting agent notice to quit
Comments

It's "agent" in the loosest sense, as in anyone acting for you.
So if i'm correct... I would be able to use my accountant as an "address" ?. Because if we did go abroad I wouldn't want to burden my friends or family with any tax duties/obligations.
Thanks for you input tbs624. Much appreiciated.

What if no family member is a letting agent?
When I say"you WILL need an agent, even if its a family member. " that does not mean letting agent. 'Agent' just means someone acting on your behalf. Anyone you trust can do this. As tbs624 says, a friend, relative accountant, letting agent, uncle Tom Cobbly - as long as they are in the UK!0 -

Oh I see you have an uncle Tom cobbly aswell
Seriously. I suppose an accountant would be a better option seeing as the rent money has to go through a bank account.
Its a bit complicated this landlord stuff.
Thanks

We have always paid our LLs directly even in fully managed places.
And if I were a LL i would not want a middle man for rent.
As you call this a notice to quit but seem not to want T out just agent I would make it very clear that they are not to be served notice0 -
I suspect your accountant wouldn't be too chuffed about being your agent for that purpose - collecting rent is one thing, but organising a plumber is another.
The LL stuff is complicated, but it doesn't get significantly less complicated if you use an agent. You choose the agent, and you're responsible for them - so if the agent acts unlawfully, you're responsible regardless of whether the agent is a LA or your uncle Tom.0 -
