If it has got an Athlon64 in it, the parts are worth about £205 excluding Windows XP, so I reckon it would cost you £274 to buy the components and O/S for this PC, using all OEM parts from EBuyer etc.

    ie:

    Athlon64/3000 £80
    Mobo £30
    256 DDR £12
    40GB HDD £28
    Case £15
    PSU £10
    CDRW/DVD £20
    Keyboard/Mouse £10
    XP Home OEM £59
    Works OEM £10

I suspect it will be a Sempron 64 bit 3000+ CPU.

    The 533MHz description is wrong.

    Here is the motherboard spec.

    Way out how?

Taken from cheapest available (generally) on eBuyer for generic items, or specific prices for branded spec where listed for this machine's actual specification.

Bought one of these yesterday thinking it would be ideal for my Dad to do some of his design work on. Got it home and found the spec is slightly different to that advertised.

It has as a athlon 3000+ processor which the box says = 2ghz however once up and running we found it was actually just 1.6ghz and not up to the minimum spec his design programme requires.

Whats more the fan is the noisiest I've ever heard on any p.c (and about three times louder than his 7 year old dell tower system). Not a problem for some who can fit another but a salient point if your not technically minded enough to replace it.

On the plus side though it does have 6 usb 2.0 ports rather than the advertised 2. With 2 front and four rear.

So anyway we're off to P.C world to demand an upgrade on our processor which will actually bring this up to the bargain spec. Will update how I get on later today.
  • Working in IT I'd have to say dell offer a better deal at the moment.

If you select a basic dell model and reduce the warranty from "on site" to "90 day collect and return" you'll get a better spec PC than this for about the same price.

In fact I was looking at a good one INCLUDING a 17" flat screen for £289 today Dell offers
  • yeah that isnt a very good price to be honest.
