A fault with our Bosch dishwasher tripped out the circuit breaker on the main power board in the night.
Now our TV (LG 32LX 2R) won't power up - no power light on the front at all.
A search on the net says there there is an internal fuse which can blow under these condition, but nobody seems to have a response. I've also found a PSU repair kit for £16 - http://www.ohmsupplies.co.uk/epages/62027733.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62027733/Products/KIT47
Does anyone have any experience with this model (or Bosch dishwashers - but that's another thread)

Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Not had experience of this one but I take it you've tried replacing the fuse in the plug?Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0

Yes we have (it had a 5amp fuse fitted, didn't have a 5amp fuse, so OH said a 3 amp would do for test purposes......... I have to say I wasn't sure, but I am happy to be proven wrong - biology and chemistry were my strong points, not physics)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

if it had 5amp fuse, it needs 5amp fuse, 3amp aint gonna deliver enough power to the tv if the tv was designed for 5amp.
And its best to use new fuse (just in case you have duff ones lying around) or at least one you know works in another appliance in first place.0 -

Thanks (OH disagrees, but hey, no harm in trying) Tried with a 5amp fuse from another device known to be working - still nothing. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

Sorry but that statement is rubbish! The rating of the fuse depends on the wattage of the TV. A 3A fuse should be fine.
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
That is a shame - its got to be internal to the TV then.
The fact there is a repair kit of sorts for that model suggests it might be a known issue.
I am guessing its not under warranty.
Never tried to repair a tv myself but you could phone LG to get some information and a quote - at the least they might tell you qualified recommended repair people near your area.
If the power cut was as a result of your energy provider, you might have a case against them but not sure on that - never been in that situation.0 -
Thanks Hotkee, no it's out of warranty (ofcourse!) the power cut was the result of a fault with the dishwasher (also out of warranty, ofcourse). I'll start another thread for that one........Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

The fuse doesn't deliver power, the TV draws the power, so for a test like this a 3 amp is fine. There will be one, maybe 2, glass fuses inside the casing of the telly, follow the mains lead through and you'll see the psu unit.
Not all fuses are instantly recognisable in electronics. Some look like little black slugs and are mounted on the pcb (soldered to)
Obviously take the plug out of the wall before you look.
It might be best to get a TV engineer in if you don't know what you're looking for. The reason I say this is because it might even have a blown rectifier.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
