How to create a stipple effect on our ceiling?

Hiya
Some advice please guys. We've had some electric work done - new lighting etc and the upshot is that there is some wee holes in our living room ceiling. We've filled them in, but of course they now don't match the rest of the ceiling which is a white stippled effect - possible not artex....looks kinda softer as if it has been painted and soft cloth applied to it (does that make sense?).
Does anyone know how to recreate this effect properly? (would save us paying a plasterer to redo the whole of the ceiling!). Have taken a photo of one of our other ceilings to try and show you the effect I am talking about!!

You need something like this
Best to do full ceiling for a match

As this is a money ( and time
) saving forum , the product mentioned by
andyhop was expensive,
Would be very tempted to have a go with some white paint , fairly thickly applied and the use a sponge .
It might look awful!!! but would cost little or nothing, be quick and JUST might work
worth a try0 -
Know what you are saying wallbash. Husband did suggest that as well... I'd be keen not to waste too much time applying stuff to see if it worked (two kids, full time job, 3 chickens and a dog....way too much to do). Might be pricey but I might be inclined to go for something that would do the job first time around (still cheaper than a plasterer!)0

ps - we will try the thick paint/sponge method tho to a small section and see if we can get away with it!0
