Ours is going to be a Co-op so that's mean the only choice in our town for shopping will be ............... Co-op as the stores we have already are all Co-op.If I had known then what I know now . . .

Our local Somerfield (which was handy for small quick shops and occasional bargains and offers) is closed for 3 weeks and transforming to Waitrose, all the local OAP's and people on fixed incomes will no doubt notice the price difference! Nearest Tesco etc.. are 7or 8 miles away.0

co-op have bought all the stores but apprently if your town already has a co-op they wont be changing somerfield to a co-op. mil works for co-op and this is what she was told about the takeover as we have a co-op 2 mins walk from somerfieldWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
my mum's co-op is becoming a morrisons has been closed for ages. They're quite lucky as they havea tesco next door. Whereas where i live there is a little co-op and the nearest decent size supermarket is 11 miles away.0

Our local Somerfield closed for just a week before it re opened as a Budgens.
I was hoping it would be better, but it is horrendous. You think Somerfields are overpriced? Nothing in comparison to Budgens! They stock all this poncy handmade rubbish which is mega expensive, but none of the run of the mill everyday items (except milk etc that is) and its ridiculous! Some of the stuff is very nice but I would rather have Somerfields back anyday!
Its dead in there most of the time now, but the good thing is that they have to reduce loads of the stuff that doesnt get bought
which makes me a happy bunny anyway! Wealth can be measured in many ways...not all of them by pence and pounds.;) :happylove0 -

Buyout of former Co-operative and Somerfield stores
When the Co-op completed the take-over of Somerfield, Morrisons purchased in excess of 30 stores from the combined group. They plan to completely refit these stores to include as much of the full Morrisons format as possible. On Monday 30 March 2009, the following stores were advertised to be re-furbished by Morrisons:- Banchory, Aberdeenshire
- Birtley, County Durham
- Brentford, West London
- Brighton, East Sussex
- Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset (closes as a Somerfield Store on April 9th 2009, reopens as Morrisons July 1st 2009)
- Camberwell, South London
- Cheadle, Staffordshire
- Chester-Le-Street, Durham
- Corringham, Essex
- Cowdenbeath, Fife
- Crawley, West Sussex
- Downham Market, Norfolk
- Dunoon, Scotland
- Exeter, Devon
- Frodsham, Cheshire
- Kingsbridge, Devon
- Larkfield, Kent
- Louth, Lincolnshire
- Maghull, Liverpool
- Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
- Margate, Canterbury
- Mitcham, South London
- Nailsworth, Gloucestershire
- Oswestry, Shropshire
- Porth, Mid Glamorgan
- Ramsbottom, Bury
- Royston, Hertfordshire
- Shefford, Bedfordshire
- Southwark, South London
- Tyldesley, Manchester
- Wallsend, Tyneside
Yee hah! Thanks! Oh happy days, now I'll be able to go at lunchtimes instead of taking an hour and a half one evening per week going to Wimbledon...0 -
Brentford has already closed as Somerfield and will reopen as Morrisons soon. But another smaller Somerfield close to me has also been reopened as a Budgens. I wasn't fond of Somerfield but have found Budgens to be awful. Very few bargains to be had, very overpriced. Will be travelling further to go to a bigger store now.0

I didn't know that Somerfield was taken over, glad though, its my nearest supermarket (walking distance) and I hate it! Doesn't seem that long since it was Kwik Save though....
Wouldn't mind a Co-op though... I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0
