Advice please for downgrading sky package

Options
Thinking of downgrading the sky subscription until the football season starts again.

Just had a look at my sky bill and I'm paying £80 a month when I can't really see me watching much until the footy starts again.

I'm about to give them a call to:
Cancel Sports and Movies
Cancel HD
Cancel the multiroom (both are in the same room - one screen for football, one for the other half)

Will that have any negative effect? I seem to remember you have to pay for sky + if you don't have movies or sports - is that still the case?

By my reckoning it should cut nearly £40 of the monthly bill. Any other things to look out for?

Here is the full bill (don't know why there are 3 sky + subscriptions):

Duration Description Value
28/05/2009 - 27/06/2009 Sky+ Subscription £0.00
28/05/2009 - 27/06/2009 Extra Subscription £9.75
28/05/2009 - 27/06/2009 Sky+ Subscription £0.00
28/05/2009 - 27/06/2009 Sky+ Subscription £0.00
28/05/2009 - 27/06/2009 Sky+HD Pack £9.75
28/05/2009 - 27/06/2009 Sky World £46.00
Subtotal £65.50

Sky Broadband £10.00

Sky Talk international £5.00

Total £80.50

  • You only need to have a minimum subscription to use the Sky+ facilities on your main box (which I presume is the HD box).

You must have had the HD for a year to cancel the HD subs.

Once you cancel multiroom, you'll lose the recording facilities on the second box if it's Sky+.

I used to cancel Sky sports at the end of the football season then start
it again at the start of the next, never had a problem apart from they will
put you though to a 'programme advisor' who will try and talk you out of
cancelling, they may offer a reduction or something for free ( they offered
me free chelsea tv for 3 months, ok if you are a chelsea supporter but I'm
not, )..be firm and they do as you ask

Downgrading the channels was fine (dropped from £46 to £21.50 for the basic mix then they offered Sky movies2 for £3 so I took that).

But stopping the HD and multiroom was very difficult. It is done by a different department and I was 'cut off' four times whilst being transfered. I'm sure this was just 'accidental' but it did nearly make me give up trying - in the end I instisted the initial operator promised to stay with me until I was through.

Flan Flinger is correct that we will lose the recording facilities on the second box, the HD one is fairly big though.

So all in all the reduction should be from £80 down to £39.50.
