Merseyside Job Misery!

Did I read you right? You said there were "plenty of jobs on Merseyside!!!" You've got to be JOKING!!!!!!
Yes, there are SOME jobs, but they are very few, and always attract over 200 applicants - often more than that!
I would only say to you that if you still hold your misconception about the plentiful jobs on Merseyside, then try coming down here for a while and applying for jobs every day. I guarantee that before long, you will soon be disabused from that notion!
I have NEVER felt - in all the years I have lived here - that I am EVER going to better myself,. I just wish I could get out of the place, as I see little prospect of improving my life if I stay in this miserable, depressing rut!

Look at your CV and skills etc as the answer lies there as to why you are not getting jobs. Moving elsewhere wont change that.0 -
Thing is admin jobs are in high demand all over the country. Just looking on reed at ones in London and they have 400 applicants (and remember the ads will be on other sites too)"It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0

Yeah, I can imagine such high competition for admin jobs, and that is certainly reflected in all the unacknowledged applications I have sent out!
I was just wondering should I change careers and go for jobs where there is less competition. I know retail attracts a lot of competition too, so maybe that wouldn't be much good. But what about if I tried hotel work or catering - eg.train to be a waiter? Do you think I would have a better chance there?Thing is admin jobs are in high demand all over the country. Truegho - I am also from Liverpool and I fully understand your frustration.
I doubt it will make you feel any better, but I know many people who are experiencing the same problems as you. The job market is completely flat and the number of opportunities are few and far between.
I've had some really negative experiences with recruitment agencies. Out of interest which ones have messed you around?0 -

I'm also in Merseyside and having a tough time finding something. I do have a trial day at a call centre next week but if it involves passing a credit check, I know I won't get the job. Other than that, there's nothing on the horizon for me which is scary and bleak and stressful.0
