Merseyside Job Misery!

That's not very nice. Call centre work is not for everyone.
OP does merseyside not have any adult employment advice. In Manchester we have work solutions, maybe there is something similar in Merseyside.
Like other posters have said I would look at getting more qualifications too. Unfortunately you are going to be in competition for jobs with loads of other people many of whom will have level 3 and 4 qualifications.
People have suggested NHS... have you looked at the council they often have admin positions."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -
Just read your post and must immediately take issue with you re. my dislike of call centre work. It wasn't my fault if I didn't like it. I didn't just jack it in after a few days; I gave it some WEEKS. In the end, I just couldn't carry on with it, and as much as I hated - I repeat, HATED - having to resign, unfortunately I had no other option.LinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »Tbh I suggest you need to look at your own CV as if you are getting no responses at all the problem is in your own skills than the job market

Could you sign on as a Temp with the Agencies for the summer months?

I have signed up with most of the agencies . . . BUT, sadly, like many people, I have found them to be totally useless.0

Sorry to hear this truegho. I just wondered if you were on the Agencies' temp register as well as on their books for permanent work.

I also worked in a call centre for 12 months and then left! I utterly hated it and by the end was crying for no reason in the kitchen etc, at which point I thought 'yknow what, you gave it a try' and left. TBH they would have got rid of me reasonably soon, as I was failing to hit the sales targets.0 -
I am indeed registered for both perm AND temp work.
As I said, they are utterly useless.
It is now Monday morning, and the start of another depressing, demoralising week of the silent phone and no response at all to my latest job applications. I just feel as if I am banging my head against a brick wall with all this fruitless job hunting.
I wish I could get out of Merseyside and move to another area where I might stand a better chance of getting a job than I do here. Unfortunately, as I said, there is the problem of finding accommodation. Catch 22.Sorry to hear this truegho. Maybe you should stop blaming your area. Even in Merseyside there is plenty of jobs. you arent getting them because you are not the best candidate.
Look at your CV and skills etc as the answer lies there as to why you are not getting jobs. Moving elsewhere wont change that.0 -
Have you thought of looking in Manchester? I've worked with plenty of people who did the commute from Liverpool (and that was on public transport)
Also it might be a good idea to give nextstep a call to get some free advice/ see how your cv can be improved. Their number is 0800 434 6129. Search for next step on google. I'm not allowed to post links as a newbie

As I said before, apply in other areas and worry about accommodation if you're offered a job. You can find accommodation anywhere if you have employment!0
