I thought Councils when they issued tickets were supposed to fill in all the details on their forms.
Did they get all the vehicle details correct?
They normally seem to log the vehicle colour and Tax Details(they even have a space for Tax Details). Also did your wife actually buy a ticket on the way back to the car?
If she did you have grounds for an appealevidence that you were going to get change for the machine when the guy ticketed you.0 -
Sorry I thought the idea was to try and find a way not to pay or a way to appeal the ticket successfully. If she has a ticket timed before the fine was issued she will have a good chance to get the fine waived.
These Pay and Display car parks are supposed to observe for a time to allow you to get a ticket so the timing on that ticket, if she has it, may save the £45 fine.0 -
Neil is realistic, if there's any chance of contesting he'll say so. Likewise if its best to pay up he'll also say so. Nothing to do with moneysaving, just whether its realistic to appeal.
I think he has said that you cannot go off site to get change nor get a ticket when you come back in. If the council give a fine whilst going for a ticket then they would usually lose.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
A couple of questions:
If they thought it was 'Tesco' car park, why did the OP go to 'a nearby shop' and not into Tesco to get some change?
What was the time period between parking the car and getting back to the car with the ticket?
Be honest now!
I suspect the OP was either away from the car for a long time or was observed by the Parky leaving the car park.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
So is this one of these "parking order" car parks, where they are owned by the Supermarket but are controlled by the Council?
I beleive we have one at the waitrose in Worcester Park.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -

It certainly does sound something like that yes. I suggested he could research it but I suppose you have to weigh up the time it costs to research against the £45 and how strongly he feels.0 -

Although it was discussed and explained earlier you seem to be missing the significant difference of an RTRA 1984 ticket.0 -

There is a chance that PPO has some qualification in it about allowances for payment times and/or defines requirements for display/pay. Coblcris raised something along these lines recently.
It might also confirm or contradict that very odd amount of £45.0 -

What's odd about £45? That used to be the fixed penalty for many traffic offences (eg speeding etc). Just be thankful it didn't go up to £60!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Blimey you must go back a bit! LOL.
Just the first one I've seen i suppose.
On the face of it, from their website, it is correct. As is the fact they manage the Tesco car park along with a Morrisons one.
unusual not to offer an early payment discount though - but for RTRA, like I said, simply don't know.0
