biasi combi bolier fault?

been using my biasi riva combi boiler for over 4 years now.

the central heating works but when i turn on the hot water tap the boiler does not kick-in/no flame?

if i wanted hot water then i turn on the central heating system and then turn it off and then turn the tap to get hot water.

this work for a while and then the same cycle is repeated...

any ideas?

Stretched / split / worn out diaphragm. Repair kit for a Biasi costs about a tenner.

At this point a poster called ormus will disagree with the price.

how much do you reckon it would cost for an engineer to fix the fault(inc part if required)

have this problem about every 6m with my Biasi boiler. Usually happens within a few weeks of not having the heating on, or a few weeks after we turn the heating back on again

Have had about 10 different boiler engineers out to look at it over the years, and tbh none of them came back after 'diagnosing' the fault

Have now opted for a British Gas maintenance plan, so they come out, change a PCB and stat, and its ok again for a while

So far, no-one has been able to fix it once and for all, but as the BG plan means i dont continually pay for call-outs and parts, im not really bothered - as you say, you can always get it to work, if you trick the boiler into turning on, by running the heating

Sorry, i couldnt be more help

i just think its a quirk of the boiler

As i said above, we have had this problem since we had a Biasi boiler installed (must be 10yrs old now). No-one has been able to stop it re-occurring, either the fault is intermittent so we just keep using the heating cycle to override the hotwater, or we get the parts replaced, and it works for about 6m, then were back to square one

Every time BG come out repair the same fault, we ask the engineer whether we would be better off replacing the boiler, and they are always of the opinion, its a repairable machine, so why bother

long term solution, no - but as long as you are on a BG agreement, and they are prepared to keep repairing it, then its something that currently isnt bothering me too much, other than the annoyance of having to keep to-ing and fro-ing between the boiler and taps

my boiler is coming up for 11yrs old, and for the price we paid for it new, i think weve had a good innings, seeing as BG reckon any combi will only last 10yrs (that includes their recommended worcester bosch ones at 3 times the price)
