No problems since I have had a new dialler. BTW, have you signed up for caller display? I am asking as Orchid now recommends having the optional power supply on BT lines with caller display. When I asked them about it, they said that it only affects some exchanges. Weird. I do not have the optional power supply and I am OK now, but it is just a further thought to get to the bottom of your troubles.

I do have caller display from BT, but I don't have the optional power source. When I first contacted Orchid, they advised I didn't need one.

We also had a dialler that was letting the odd call slip through the net because during the daytime our calls were meant to be routed via Call1899 but the odd one wasn't routed and therefore we got charged because the call was carried via our CPS supplier, OneTel.

I noticed this one day because whilst dialling a number, I never heard the dialler prefix 1899 before the number I dialled but when I redialled this time the dialler routed the call via 1899 because you can hear it dial the extra 4 digits.

Orchid kindly sent out a new one next day and a SAE for returning the old/faulty dialler.

hmm second person suggesting a new dialler.. may have to telephone Orchid on Monday.

The clocks springing forward dosen't help either lol.. gonna have to re-set the dialler after a nite out on the tiles ;)

If you find some calls are being routed to your CPS carrier instead of your chosen carrier then this can be confirmed by listening to the dialing tones during the time the dialler should route the call to Call1899 (or whichever provider you chose). Like I said, I noticed that when dialling a number once I couldn't hear the dialler dial the extra digits needed to route the call via Call1899 so it only dialled the number that I requested without using the 1899 prefix and hence reason why it was charged on our CPS account.

Can you hear the dialler dial the extra 4 digits as well as the number you rung? Eg, you dial a number which is usually 11 digits long but when the dialler dials your number it should use 15 digits because it should include the 1899 prefix. As our problem was intermittent it took me a while before I realised that on the odd occasion it wasn't routing the call the reason behind it was that it wasn't dialling the 1899 prefix like it was programmed to do.
  • never took any notice bb.. I will tho' over the weekend.

It's not routing calls through 1899/18185, instead it's routed them to Primus at peak times, only the odd few tho'.
