I have some plastic tubs which I use for lunches for me and OH. The other day I was moaning that they had disappeared, and OH says "I think I have a few in the office". Next day he returns with two that were totally mouldy _pale_ . I was far from impressed and made him clean them himself. However, the mouldy smell is still there. I have tried cleaning them myself with washing up liquid, and then with kitchen surface spray but they still smell. I don't want to just throw them away as one is Lock n Lock (too expensive to just chuck), so is there anything else I can try? My dh did exactly the same thing! I soaked them in a bleach solution overnight and it brought them up sparkling with no smell.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Men!!! This sounds a familiar story!
I usually wash mine in the dishwasher, more then once if necessary. Never thought of using bleach solution as I was afraid it might taint the plastic.Resolution:

If its the smell thats the problem then put some Bicarbonate soda in them and leave over night should soak up the smell, also works with smelly shoes.Lose 20lb in 12 weeks 5/200

I used to sell Tupperware in the 1970s and the advice then was to use bicarbonate of soda to remove smells.
My method is to put a decent amount of bicarb into the container and then add enough water to make a paste. Rub the paste all over the inside of the container and leave for a while. Then, add water to fill and leave the container overnight. Rinse with clean water and the container should be ready for use.#Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain #We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us #If you focus on what you have left behind, you will never see what lies ahead - Gusteau/RatatouilleGC 2022: £0/£2,500 total spend0 -
More excellent advice! I will probs try the bicarb first because I'm a bit nervous of bleaching plastic.:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. William Shatner

I HATE this!!! The smell on tupperware can be really offensive. I have now stopped using it, and use glass jars instead...no smell at all, and no stains when you heat soup up in them. :-)0

I find the easiest way is to immerse the offending items in a solution of Milton bottle sterilising fluid. leave for a few hours then wash in hot water and washing up liquid. I did this with a load of Tubs found in MILs house covered in grease and grime (she wasnt noted for her housekeeping skills) and they all came out lovely and clean and smell free!0

Hiya
The bicarb suggestion is the one I would make too. Here's an older thread on the subject: cleaning smelly tupperware
