Vodafone Porting Process
Hi folks,
Is it normal practice for Vodafone to disconnect your existing mobile number when you ask them to port in a number from another network?
I've been asked to find this out?
My mate has connected to Vodafone Sim Only 600 mins and unlimited texts £20 per month and has received the sim card today. When he telephoned Vodafone to ask them to port his number from Asda Mobile and he supplied the PAC the sim card with its temporary number has disconnected itself and states "inactive sim"
Just wondering why Vodafone do this when other networks allow you to use the temp number until the porting process is complete.
Any comments?

when i ported numbers to o2 and orange the 'temp' numbers were active till the day of the port.
if your friends temp number has disconnnected before the port day i would personally ring 'em, it doesn't seem right
obviously making sure the sim in inserted the correct way first (could be another reason for that message).0 -
as per AUxSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

Thanks folks,
I thought it was a bit strange that the sim card seems to have disconnected itself... All it says on the screen is "inactive sim"
If this is the case he will have no mobile phone service until Tuesday as this is when the port will go through.
Has this happend to anyone else?0 -
I contacted Vodafone this morning for my mate re the above and have been told that they must disconnect the existing sim card with the temp number in order that the porting process goes through for Tuesday.
I know the other networks allow you to use your temp number until the porting goes through... Seems a bit strange if you ask me!!
Oh well, he has no phone until Tuesday. I also heard he may be cancelling the 30 day sim as he can get the same deal with T-Mobile which includes the unlimited internet access.0
