Hi All.
Need some urgent advice please. I had been with o2 since October 1996 and had been a loyal customer and had never missed any payment and always paid full via direct debit. Back in 2007 I received my monthly statement with a bill for £400 (Cant remember the exact amount)
Contacted o2 who told me that there had been a lot of Data useage and that was why i had a high bill.Apparently Data is internet connection so i was told.
I paid half the bill and cancelled my direct debit and told o2 that i would not be paying for the data charges due to not using this facility.
A few letters were sent to and fro and eventually all correspondance stopped,so i assumed my dispute had been settled.
Today (2 and a half years later) I have received a letter from o2 saying they have sold the debt to some debt collecting agancy and that any future correspondance needs to go via them. !!!!!!???!!!!
What happens now? I have rung the debt collecting agency and explained the situation to them and the lady said she wopuld contact o2 for further information.
Worried sick!!!!!!

Well it sounds like that you owe money to o2 and they have done what anyone would expect - put your debit in the hands of debit collectors.
A similar problem to yours highlighted here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1111469
Personally I would pay off the amount owed and just get rid of the hassle from your mind - but thats just me.
Other people might suggest other routes but I cannot see why o2 would not chase up the debit.
You might want to get in touch with o2 directly and see what, if anything, they suggest but sorry its a case of money owed has to be paid. From reading your post - o2 have washed their hands affectvely of the matter.
PS - not trying to be harsh, might sound that way!0 -
Yeh, not meaning to sound harsh, but part of the problem as I see if, is that you 'assumed' it had been sorted.
I would also try to ring o2 to see if they could help sort it. Hopefully they willl still have your account details. Did they do an investigation at the time to show the GPRS charges were valid?0
