Unlimited Vodafone 3G Mobile Internet via wireless dongle

Hi all,
I've been looking to get away from the tyranny of a BT landline and with not having cable available at my new flat I have been looking into 3G dongles. I also don't want to have to worry about any download limits and found that Vodafone do an unlimited mobile internet plan hidden away under their business section which they say is available to consumers by registering with them as an "Individual Business User"
It won't actually let me post alink as I'm apparently a new user, but it's on the vodafonebusinessshop dot co dot uk and then click on Mobile Broadband
I phoned them and checked it out as this is the first and only unlimited mobile internet package I've found and the guy said that it is unlimited but the speed drops by half after 5GB usage - I can live with this as it'll drop from a max of 7.2 to 3.6 if this is true.
I'd appreciate and comments on whether this is a good viable option or if anyone has this already and has any praise/complaints about it as a service.
Thanks
Richard.

Looks pretty interesting... shame you have to either sign up for 12 months or pay about £40 for the USB dongle (18 months and £60 if you want the "pro" dongle). If only there were a SIM-only option...
Looking at the T&C it certainly seems that you will never get charged more than the specified monthly fee. It would be interesting to hear from anyone that has actually used this service for large amounts of data.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Hi all,
Just to follow up with this post, I've been using this since just after I posted my initial message and it's been great. Been sharing it with my 2 other flatmates and we've all been downloading massive files (some 6gb or so) from BitTorrent and not really noticed any problems. Sometimes slows down quite a bit but I think that's the signal strength dropping more than anything.
Going to get a router for this to make our multiple connections more reliable as soon as poss and will update the post with my findings.
Thanks.

What speeds are you actually getting with this?
My parents have a mobile dongle and its not much better than dial-up to be honest.0 -
There is another piece of information that I can add to this.
There is a fair usage policy of 5Gb on the account, however as already said above, when you go over the limit the service slows down to half speed.
Also, and here is the rub, if you go over your limit for three consecutive months then they will send you a letter!
This has not actually happened to me so I don't know what the letter says, but it probably will remind you of the 5Gb fair usage policy.
Since this is a contract for businesses it seems unfair to offer unlimited usage and then still restrict it. I did not ask to go on this contract, they put me on it as I have had one of these dongles for over two years now and paid an awful lot more than £18 a month for all that time.
However I suppose they have to deal with abuse of their service in some way.
Free internet for all, that's what I say, after all Timothy Berners-Lee did precisely that! (Google him if you don't know)0 -
Is this offer still going? Cant find it on their site and link just goes to home page.
Thanks0 -
What about getting a 3 contract with the "one plan" ?What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -

You have re-opened an old thread from 20090 -
Ah yes - the good old days.
It's great to reminisce.
Pointless of course but still very nice.
I had a lovely week in Torquay in 2009. I was disappointed at the distinct lack of wilderbeast though.0
