Flying easyjet where to sit?

Maybe some people like sitting in airports. I got my last easyjet check-in time wrong and turned up earlier than normal (one and half hours before takeoff). I thought that at least I would be in the first group to be called to board seeing as check-in has only opened half an hour earlier. How wrong I was. I was the 99th and practically last person to turn up for that flight.
  • these days i take a 'backseat' and laugh at the numbskulls who do their best to make what could be a reasonably pleasurable experience into a stressful one.
the 2 couples who are travelling together but arrive at the airport at different times always feel the need to join their friends at the front of the queue rather than the back of the queue ( this continues throughout your holiday ).
the people who are shocked when they need their passports at check-in and security and then have to try and find them.
the 'confused' who don't understand the boarding calls when they clearly state 1 to 30 and then act bemused and hinder the access for everyone else ( they normally make statements like " does it matter we've all got to get on " ) and strangely do the same thing i'll wager every single time they travel with easyjet .
the imbeciles who find the safety demonstration the funniest thing since del-boy went to lean on the bar in only fools and horses or decide that that is the ideal moment to start up a loud conversation . ( 2 minutes of a 2 hour flight and people can't shut up.. why ? )
on landing "please keep your seat belts fastened" ....followed by the sound of metallic clicking all over the plane ....oh well it's only doing about 180mph at that point.
the next trigger point is the plane nearly stopping by the need to get up and get the hand-baggage down and get to the front of the aircraft as soon as possible.
the race is now nearly on .....vroom vroom ...it's a 10 minute walk to get to the luggage carousel and the 1st person there can wait 30 minutes for their baggage to come ...but you need to get there first because ???????????
the airport put a nice line around the baggage carousels and ask you to stand outside it....now i would imagine the authorities thought it might be an idea to stand back ,see your case come along , step forward , pick it up and place it behind you ,step back and wait for the next one. i don't think they envisaged that the majority would assemble the whole family with trolleys right next to it thus blocking any other poor passenger from retrieving their case. ( some who are gutted that they have been blocked out can always resort to the 'mistaken case identity move' ...step forward , say "that looks like ours" ....sigh and shrug shoulders and let case pass ...maintain position and try and get kids in with you )
nearly forgot on the chase through the airport earlier don't forget to hide your passport away , stand in queue where everyone in front are getting their passports out and showing them and then act surprised when you are asked for it

    bit of a rant
but anyone who's been there knows exactly what i'm going on about

ps i forgot the seating arrangements .....2 people together in a 3 seat row and they have to choose the best method of putting people off sitting with them ...the current one is wife ..empty ..husband or empty ..wife ..husband ...whatever you do don't sit ..wife ...husband ...empty ( on the aisle ) or some poor soul!!!!!! might find it easy to find a seat

    Excellent!

I have seen an old lady hobble on to the flight with walking stick (first in queue) only to make like Linford Christie to the carousel at the other end...

Or the parents with thier 21 year old son trying to get on first as "parents with young children"

You are so right, its almost spookey !!
Came back from Edinburgh last night, lots of idiots blocking our way on boarding and when you try to sqeeze past they start mumbling and staring at you like youre somehow trying to queue jump. also had the aisle blocking when we landed so i waited and got off the plane last, when we got to baggage reclaim they were all there with no bags, when they started coming out mine were first- BARGAIN !!
    Roll on next year.

I loved Hammy's rant - very perceptive. I reckon I've seen them all too.

Don't forget the family of morons with a gang of hideous kids. They disrupt the whole plane while they sort themselves out, and then the adults start boozing while their brats run around the cabin screaming, fighting and throwing rubbish about. The parents act like they've got free child care from the cabin crew.

To make an observation on the OP, Easyjet's seats have orange headrests, except for the emergency exit seats where they are grey. If you want a bit of extra legroom, enter by the rear door if you can, and get the ones halfway back. People dive for the front row, but these are often ignored. Never yet failed to get them.

You could always buy two seats and put the armrest up, that would mean you wouldnt have to encroach on the space someone else paid for ;)
  • Hammy, so true but you left out the people that block the aisles as you board the plane whilst they attempt tp load loads of hand luggage in the overhead lockers then decide to get something out of one of the bags for the flight whist stopping anyone else getting to their seat! Often these are the first to their feet to unload and block the aisle again!

I'm 6'3" tall and big built, if I can manage easyjets seats for up to a 2 hr flight then anyone can. I look at it like getting a bus, get on, sit down, get off at the other end. I'm not fussy where I sit.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.

you are so right ...the ones that don't realise that you can put your hand baggage up and sort yourselves out while standing in by the aisle seat.

how about the ones that look at you as if you are deranged because you remain seated once the 'panic to get off starts ', even though the plane doors are still closed ( and you know that you'll still be waiting for the luggage at the carousel even if you let everyone else get off first and read another chapter of your book )

spot on hammy...you forgot "keep your mobiles switched off" when landing, is the prompt for mobiles to be switched on!

best bet is to board last....you then more than likely will have a choice of sitting with no-one next to you, and then at least you get the pleasure of watching the hideous situation of punters waiting up to an hour at the gates with ryanair, and all the jostling and one upmanship to sit on the plane for an extra 20 minutes

have a look who gets on last...experienced travellers who know full well there is nothing to be gained from getting on early but grief .

its all a big scam with both ryanair and easyjet who have fooled the public into some kind of competition for places ...throw in bargain fares and you get new year sales attitude from travellers who just can t help but panic and get competitive

the 1 hour queue with ryanair is a scandal...and the punters fall for it time and time again
