Negotiating a better deal with Orange.....

My 12 months are up and im looking to get a better deal. Voda's 250 text/600 off peak deal @ £15.99 was a gooden but they bounced me back twice  :o id consider my credit to be dam good and have to say I was alittle niffed! Anyhow, what type of approch should I adopt, I did call Orange up a week before my contract was due to end and said can you match this Voda tariff on an upgrade.... well they pretty much laugh me off the phone, flatly refused and didnt offer any alternative to keep a customer of 6 years?

Any thoughts chaps?

3000 text, no free minutes and a FREE Samsung D500 for £20 a month.

    Not a bad deal....

  • The D500 is a fantastic phone, had mine for about two weeks and still loving it. 3000 texts??? Blimey.....

If you want orange to know your serious, ask for your PAC (Port Authorisation Code) so you can take your number with you. Even if you're not bothered about transferring your number, you'll get put through to someone who will be interested in keeping your business, rather than telesales or helpdesk, who have no real authority to offer you anything anyway.

PAC code, that sound good! What you've said makes sence now, when I asked them to match the O2 Online 50 she totally ignored me and offered the Orange text option instead, I asked again some way through the converstaion and she said NO, sorry. Lets see if the PAC code makes them re-think. At the end of the day im not asking for blood just 500 text and 50 minutes anytime plus the D500 lets not forget ;D

    Thanks Malestrom

    Trust me on this!

If you call them and calmly say - "disconnection please - I would like to leave and want my PAC code", they will be begging you to stay.

When I did this, the guy instantly said, I will match any deal you can find. But I had decided that Orange was no longer for me and left regardless.

    Good luck.

  • I can confirm that the "I want my PAC code please" tactic worked for me too, by which I mean I was offered a magic tariff.

I don't think they have a lot to choose from, 120 mins & 30 texts for £15/month (should be £25) was the one I plumped for; heavier users might be offered more time for more money. Also, I don't think there's much flexibility on handset discounts; they'll offer you a range of free handsets, but if the one you want costs (say) £50, then that's how much it is.

OH NO disaster, they were not willing to match o2's Online 50 tariff and quite happily issued my PAC code ??? ???

    That idea backfired bigtime :'(

Orange don't match online tariffs, they only match highstreet tariffs from Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2.

How many minutes do you think you will use?
    Do you need any texts?

Let me know and i'll recommed a tariff that Orange will most definately match

Ring them back in a week or so, give them firm details of the package you want and which providor it is with. Give them one last chance, if they dont take it - go with the other package.....

    Cheers fella's!

Matrix, ill probably use 40 across net mins and 350 text a month. I suppose any high street tariff would do the trick, just something for them to match!

    Cheers chap....

Just thought id tell you guys and anyone on Orange nearing there 12 months and wanting a better deal this little story.....

Sometime back I called up retentions (I think) and told them id like to upgrade to a Samsung D500 on a o2 tariff (Online 50) or simular, during the conversation it became very obvious that Orange wouldnt match this tariff, however they did offer me the 3000 text offer which is GVFM but I really needed some across net minutes just incase. As they couldnt (wouldnt) offer any alternative I requested a PAC code which they gave out without a problem and that was the end of the chat. Anyhow I called disconnections up today and requested a disconnection from the network, the guy at the other end suggested I listen to Orange's "loyal customer deals" and as if by magic offered me exacally the deal I had asked retentions to match sometime back, 3000 texts AND 60 across net minutes with a NEW Samsung D500 for £20 per month :D It left me thinking, if they CAN do this why didnt retentions offer me that deal before xmas?

Anyway, Orange have me for another years with that deal!
