the situation: achieved grade c in english literature
and recieved notification from uni (in scotland) that will not be allowed
to continue the course. (only b grade and above can go into 3rd year)
already changed course once...
is there any way of redeeming the situation and finding a suitable way to finish a ba?
probably can't get funding for tuition now as the saas
will consider yet another change of course as a no-no.

Does your university offer 'trackers', people who aren't honours students but do all the classes and if they get a certain grade at the end of third year can move up to honours level? If they don't achieve that grade then they leave after third year with an ordinary/designated degree.0

If you contact the OU they'll be able to give you an idea of the number of credits they'd allow you to transfer from 2 years' study. With any luck you might be able to finish your degree with them, part time, over the next 2 years, working at the same time.0

This is interesting, I have O/H daughter going to Uni this year and will start her Degree course next year, so does this mean that you are not allowed to re-sit exams to better your grade if you are studying at Degree level?Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0

Can you defer your third year entry and complete a course to get your english grade up to the grade needed?
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -
Many universities do not allow resits, or will only allow you to do an Ordinary (not Honours) course if you have to resit to pass a module.
Anyway, if you really need a degree then the OU is the way to go. Otherwise (or as well), visit your careers service to choose something that you would like to do.
(One of my friends failed his degree outright, and went on to be a very successful insurance underwriter.)0 -

No, you can't resit exams to better your grade. Usually (in the English system, I don't know much about how Scottish universities work) you can resit modules you fail in your first year (which doesn't count towards honours) but you are only awarded a maximum mark of 40%, ie. a pass. Most universities don't allow resits beyond the first year.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000 -

Are you sure? I thought it was conventional to be allowed 1 resit, irrespective of the year you are in, which is capped at 40%.0 -
I can resit in my second year and get a maximum of 40%...0

I sincerely hope not! Resits shouldn't put you in a better position than someone who didn't need to do them!0 -

Definitely not. And I really hope this isn't what happens in the A level system.
Most universities will allow you to resit with the grade capped at a maximum of 40% - a pass.0
