    It's been like that since I was using macs regularly (System 6)

    Do you still have to drag them into the bin to make them eject? That always made me laugh.

    lol...in their defence, it changes from a trash can to an eject symbol whenever you start dragging something ejectable.

    But you can press the eject button on the keyboard, or press cmd-e.
