Tiscali
About 4 weeks ago,my 12 month contract with Tiscali came to an end. After seeing various posts on here for 512k broadband,I decided to ask Tiscali for my MAC code.
They were very reluctant to give it to me,and when they decided to cut my price to £19.99 a month,I went through the pros and cons of it,and decided to take them up on it.
The first question I asked, was if it was a new contract,to which I was told,no,merely an extension of my current one,and I was still free to walk away, with 30 days notice. ;D
My neighbour, who is also on Tiscali, was paying £19.99 a month for 256k,and quite rightly so,was a bit miffed that he was paying the same as me,for a slower speed.
Today,we rung them up,to ask for 512k for my neighbour,at £19.99 a month, and was told that offer is no longer available. My neighbour then asked why they couldn't offer him the same price to keep him as a valued customer,to which the person on the other end said,'Move then'!!!!!!
Annoyed,my neighbour then asked to speak to a manager,to which he was told that there weren't any in!!!! (So there is no supervision then?) After much discussion,a female voice came on,and my neighbour then went through the whole process again.
After a heated discussion, the manager, then asked to speak to me,because she couldn't believe what I was on.I told her that I has arranged a reduction in my price from £24.99 to £19.99,and that I was told I could still walk away with 30 days notice, hence the reason I agreed to stay with them.
'No no' she said, you have agreed another 12 months!!!!!! ??? >:(
A very heated discussion then took place, and she basically told me to like it or lump it.
So,after that rather long story,do Tiscali deliberately set out to con you, treat you with contempt, etc,or have other people had a similar experience, and what did they do to resolve it?
I will be e.mailing Tiscali, and ringing them on Monday to cancel immediately, even if it means me cancelling the direct debit. >:( >:(

Dear Sir or Madam,
About 4 weeks ago,my 12 month contract with yourselves came to an end.I decided to move ISP,and rung your company to arrange a termination of the service.
I spoke to a rather helpful colleague, who asked me why I was leaving, and I told him that I thought your prices were not competitive, when there were other ISP's who could offer me a better deal,to which I was asked if my price was cut to £19.99 for 512k,would I stay. After a few questions from myself, including if I was renewing my contract,or was it a rolling one,I was told, that I could still walk away after giving 30 days notice.
I decided to carry on,with that proviso in mind, and today I was talking to my neighbour, who is also a Tiscali customer, but he has 256k for £19.99 a month, and his 12 months is now up.
He rang your company, and asked for an upgrade to 512k for £19.99,to which he was told that he couldn't have it.So he asked for a termination so he could move, and was told in no uncertain terms,'Move then.'
Extremely annoyed,he asked to speak to a manager,to which he was told that there weren't any in.(So you don't have supervisors/managers on a Saturday then?) After much insistence,a one was found,(What a surprise!!) and he went through the whole story again.
The supervisor didn't believe his story including the 512k for £19.99 a month,so she asked if she could speak to me.I told her what I had arranged and to my astonishment,I was told I had agreed another 12 month contract.
After a disagreement,I told her I would also be complaining,to which I was give the phone number, and to ring on Monday morning!!!
Now I have to ask you,is this the way you treat all your customers? Are you so bad as a company, you don't care what people do? Because if that's the case, perhaps you should all deserve your P45,and have to seek alternative employment.
Finally,I have to add, that my,and my neighbours Tiscali accounts were sourced through a local agent, who has told us that after 12 months, you are on a month by month basis, and can cancel with 30 days notice.
The way things are,you will be losing 2 customers, and if you treat customers the way you do,perhaps you deserve to lose more.
If you would care to discuss the points raised, you can ring me on 07xxx 56xxxx.I don't expect you to,but my phone number is there, nevertheless,if you can be bothered.
Yours.VERY annoyed.
K.Quinn.
Just a small note to the complaints people.

Tell your neighbour to log into his account on Tiscali and i think it's the upgrade / downgrade section. He should have to option there to change his broadband package to 256k at 17.99. That's what i've been paying for months now..0 -
Ah well, what Tiscali don't tell you at the moment,is,that in January, they are launching their 1mb service, and that their current price tariffs are going to fall.
The snotty biatch on the phone today told me that, and I think he's now going to wait for that.
As to whether I can move/change my package, well,we'll wait and see.
