Has anyone tried to negotiate a data tariff with Orange?

Hey

I recently moved over to Orange from Three network, and I have to say I'm totally shocked at the prices of data tariffs on Orange. On Three it was £5 a month for unlimited internet (well, 1gb cap). Orange are offering "unlimited" for £7.50 a month, but given the cap is 250mb that's pretty poor definition of unlimited.

Has anyone contacted Orange's sales department and tried to knock them down/try to get a few more MBs out of the allowances on offer? I've got a Nokia 5800 and would love to put its various features to use when I'm out and about but for what Orange are offering I just don't think its going to be worth it.

Cheers

Apart from the data tarriff, I;ve noticed that Orange don't negotiate alot. Myself and my partner both have an orange contract, bought at the same time, use the same minutes, magic number, same bill every month but they gave me one deal for an upgrade with a blackberry 9000 free and they were charging her £199.99 for it.

They are useless when it comes to negotiating. when you ask for a PAC code as a threat they just send it to you. ive spoken to 3 advisors in "retention" so far and they have retained anything!

Moving back to 3. cheaper and more friendly. my dad is paying £1 a month for 500 mins / 300 texts.

I've heard of a few people that have managed to negotiate slightly better deals when starting a new contract, but it is admittedly rare. You may want to actually try contacting retentions from the off to see what they can get you. You will have no credit, but they are a separate company to the instore version of Orange and can give better deals from the off anyway. Might as well give it a shot.

Not true at all. My retention deal got me a £35 tariff (700 mins, 300 texts, unlimited landlines) for £9.79 a month with a free Samsung G600. It's just a bit of lottery in terms of the staff member you get in retentions. But the deals are there if you persevere.

alot of people now have "unlimited" free internet on there tariffs which orange offerd them.
They also have an unlimited 500mb fair use package but i dont know how hard it is to get on it. i got on this when it was free for all £35 plans. I think orange are pushing free unlimited data (dno if its 250 or 500mb) on upgrades and retentions.

I think you have to be a good current customer (ie reasonably high spending) and then go through retentions to get a good internet deal with Orange. I managed to get their "unlimited" 500MB internet add-on for free on a £10/month retentions deal. Previous to this i've been paying £7.50/month for 250MB of data anytime.
  • I took out a new contract with Orange last week and got the 500mb unlimited data bundle for £5. :)
If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...
