    Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

    March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Gosh this takes me back to when I was about three years old! My dear Dad would carefully cut the cooked rind (and fat!) from his bacon and let me eat it as a treat! I blame him for the fact that I find it almost impossile to remove fat from meat - I still love it!
    I'd agree with all the above suggestions - it would definitely flavour soup or stock, and the birds love it too.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

    Buy rindless - if you get it from the butchers get them to cut it off and pay for lean only.

    that reminds me when i went to the butchers and asked for 2lb of bacon and he said lean?....so i leant and asked again ...2lb of bacon please

    Snip it into little pieces with the kitchen scissors and put it out for the birdies, they love it.

    My Mum always used to drape the Sunday morning bacon rind over the roast chicken, it would crisp up lovely, and flavour the chicken,it was then a race to get to it first!!!
