Have been with Atlantic for just 12 months for electricity, paying monthly by direct debit. The changeover was A OK and no probs whatsoever. I phoned them once and was met by a very nice customer services rep who could hold down a sentence !!
The rates I pay now are a lot cheaper than Powergen who I was previously with and if you sign up with Atlantic and pay by dd they (Atlantic) credit your bank account each year on the anniversary of you opening the account the equivalent of one months payments. You therefore get 12 months fuel for 11 months pay - got to be good - and that continues year in year out whilst you remain with Atlantic.
Form a queue to sign up with Atlantic --- :hello: :wave:0 -
I've been with Atlantic for about four years now after my previous supplier Amerada sold their domestic business to PowerGen.
I've never had any problems with them and I don't recall ever having to ring them.
You may be interested to note that Atlantic was initially a small independent supplier but they went into administration two years ago when the business was acquired by Scottish and Southern Energy.0 -
All these replies are really helping persuade me to switch to Atlantic, thanks very much.
I just have to do a couple more comparisons to make doubly sure I'm changing to the right one for my needs and it's then bye bye to British Gas - at least for gas and electricity. I still have several breakdown covers with them, central heating, plumbing and drains, electric and kitchen appliances.

I'm also in the process of changing from B.Gas electricity to Atlantic. It usually takes about 4-5 weeks.

I have been with Atlantic for 18months and have had no problems. As others have said, at the end of 12months with them you get a payment into your bank account for one months direct debit payment, so really getting 12months for the price of 11.
I have always found them knowledgeable on the phone, and easy to get hold of and the call centre is in the UK too.
My electric is £90 per month and gas £47.50, feel like I am paying for the whole street!:hello:0 -
Have been with them for over 3 yrs, no probs, but make sure you use their freephone number from saynoto0870.com when you call them
, btw v.lucky, they are flexible on their direct debit, i pay £20 gas & £10 electricity for a 3 bed, but am not @ home alot though.
No one said it was gonna be easy!0 -

Crikey V.Lucky, are you in a huge house? Did you save a lot when you switched to Atlantic?Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man's World!0 -

Carrie
I moved to Atlantic some 5/6 years ago - at my previous property. No problem other than they were totally inept when it came to taking money. Took me 6 months to get them to enact the DD mandate I sent in during the sign up procedure - and slightly longer to get a bill out of them. So put the £120pm, I knew my electricity was costing, into a Web saver and Emailed them into submission. By the time I left - bills and DDs were living happily together. Happy to endorse Atlantic. They were hopeless in the early days - but did improve (particularly after the takeover!)
Just switched to EDF (London Energy) at the new place. Pain in the bum getting the DDs right (they all seem to fall down on that) but excellent now everything sorted. But I remain puzzled that having signed up to an online tarriff - they send me so much paper. But it helps the re-cycling cause.
Reference the Quote above. Have you seriously considered whether you need to insure all those items! Would strongly suggest you use the switch to a new supplier to evaluate the cost of the insurance against the probability of breakdown? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

I have a 3 bed detached dormer bungalow, larger than average but not huge. Heavy user of the tumble drier and washing machine though.
Hard to tell if I saved because of the price increases in the last 18months and my increased usage. But uswitch says its still the cheapest, so I am sticking with them.:hello:0 -
I've been with Atlantic for a few months now and also have had no problems.
The changeover was smooth, and even though i'm on the fixed monthly DD, i've actually called them almost every month to change the amounts (when i've taken meter readings so i know i'm paying the right amount each month not to overpay or underpay too much). They do tend to overestimate your usage otherwise, but there's no argument when i've asked them to lower the DD - even when i phone the next month to put it back up again!
