Buyer wants refund after almost 4 weeks (& after they left +ve feedback!)

  • well u can almost forget about winning if u are the seller, no matter what ur reputation is.
I sell regularly and often have people filing disputes.
I used to resist earlier, call paypal, send all kind of documentary evidence, yet always end up having to refund.
I currently have a few disputes pending, but these dont bother me much.
I once had exactly a similar problem for not a £100 item but £1350
I sold a brand new mac book air laptop box sealed
I got a positive feedback and after 10 days the buyer came back saying the laptop inside was a cheaper spec and demanded a partial refund despite agreeing in his claim that what he received was brand new and sealed. His contention was that he was an apple novice and it took him a week to figue out the spec, yet his feedback suggested he regularly bought apple items.
Despite all this and all the documentary evidence paypal found in favour of the buyer.
Since then I've given up on contesting paypal claims, but if the stakes go high I use available legal alternatives

totally agree with good_fella. i am an ebay powerseller too...but my items are smaller ticket ones. Still get about a dispute via paypal for every 50-60 items sold. Usually you can argue your side of the case like forever, but still paypal will go with the buyer.
So moral of the story...just dont let it bug you so much. think 80-20 pareto rule...just concentrate on making the 20% buyers that contribute 80% of your income day in day out and make them happy. The other buyers, just bonuses, leave them alone.
    just my 2 cents,
    Lina:)
