You are not supposed to put wooden items in the dishwasher because it will ruin them .0

Has anyone tries White Vinegar or BiCarb?0

I love my dish washer, but it's a shame they can't invent a devise that will empty it and put the dishes etc away0

As I have a small kitchen, my WM,TD,F/Freezer & DW are housed in the outhouse! So losing a cupborad for me was not a problem. Ive made my own little utility room
Family of 2 adults, 2 children & lots of pet bowls to wash every day, having a DW has been a god Send. I brought mine second hand from the local Ad paper for £60, (candy make) and (touchwood) its still going strong!
I have mix n match crocks & cutlery, that too does not bother me! as they are always getting broken (by clumsy mum or kids) or just generally loss (cutlery)
Yes it is advisable to have a full load, but it doesn't mean you have to buy extra crocks in order to do so, especially after cooking/baking, you still need to wash pans etc! That soon fills the space!
I tend to use Fairy liquid tablets, only buy them when reduced or BOGOF. I find these better than Wilko's brand or even Finish! Especially on the glass ware, you can really see the difference. But Im interested to read about the white vinegar rinse solution!
Like others, I would be lost without mine! Especially working, housework, kids, etc, its a time saving job! And these days, its very little I have!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Can i just nosey in on this thread to ask something?
I live in a rented flat and we've only been there a fortnight - we have a dishwasher, but as there's only two of us and we don't have much crockery, I really have no intention on using it.... is this a bad thing? Will the dishwasher pipes or anything get dried out by me not using it? I dont want to damage anything.... May run it every now and then instead...0 -
Couldn't manage without my dishwasher - first thing I bought when returning to work in 1984! (Have to admit I'm on my second model tho'!) My kitchen always looks tidy and the dishes and pans are cleaner than if I did them by hand. This site introduced me to the idea that half a tablet works just as well as a whole one, so now saving money there.
My mother has never understood and always washes up by hand when she visits!
Probably this is down to personal preference - but I'm not about to change my mind!Resolution:

HIYA, i've been toying with the idea lately of getting a dishwasher. We have space in the kitchen as I could move my TD into our spare room. This means the DW would need to go next to the washing machine. I know I will need to get a plumber in to sort out the water pipes and waste etc but I was wondering if there is an easier way of doing it. Are there some attachments you can buy so that the cold water feed could do the DW and the WM and could the DW use the same waste outlet as the WM? I live in the midlands and I've phoned a few plumbers today for quotes and most have said around 70 - 75 quid? Does this sound reasonable? If its simple to do I'd rather have a go myself or ask my dad to help.ta very muchly lolemMarriages are made in heaven, but then again so is thunder and lightning!!!.....getting divorced lol :j

Trying to "up" my income and rookie oldstyler0 -
i wouldn't be without mine.most of the time it goes on twice a day as their are 6(sometimes 7) of us plus pet bowls etc.i hate washing up by hand and odd time when mine has been broken i seem to spend half my day with hands stuck in the sink.
tbh i would rather be without a microwave than dishwasher:DLead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
I live alone in a small flat and have no space for a dishwasher. Not that I would want one anyway. I just soak my dishes, pans etc in cold water and wash the lot in one go after my evening meal. Just one run of hot water, a little bit of washing up liquid, a quick rinse and the job is done in under 5 minutes.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
