    Wow well done Irishgirl!!!

I have to say I have a serious problem with these nappy cakes though... I had NO sleep at all last night as I was tossing and turning in bed thinking about possible designs and trying to work out profit margins, in the end I came downstairs at 6 this morning to stop disturbing OH and to practice, I eventually had an hour and half sleep with DS at 9am this morning.

I have also realised what I was doing wrong, I was looking at your lovely cakes and others online and trying to re-create them for "budget" market and impulse purchases, It's not possible to this and have realised the secret - to have 2 types of nappy cakes - a basic version and then an all singing all dancing deluxe version so this lead me to thinking up double the amount of cakes!!!

My one question now is what do you think is more important to have in a nappy cake - toiletries or clothes??

BTW - here are my impulse bath time mini cakes

    2009-08-14163539.jpg

    It contains

    8 x Nappies (cost of 64p)
Johnson's Bath Soap (cost of 22p)
    Rubber Duck (cost of 31p)
    1 x Muslin Square (cost of £1.00)
    Cellophane (approx cost of 12p)
    Ribbon (approx cost of 4p)

    Total Cost = £2.31

I was thinking about selling these at £3.99 - does that seem acceptable to you?

They are fab! I think you could push it easily to £5.49 as a lot of those items can cost more to buy in. You could put a wash cloth in which would be much cheaper than a sponge.

I think you are underselling yourself. That is a really low profit margin. How long does it take for you to make them? Would you even be earning minimum wage on these profit margins? You have to take off 25% to allow for tax etc as well. So you are looking at £1.26 net profit. You need to have more faith in yourself and your products, as they are lovely. Look at what other professionals are charging and charge accordingly.:D

Hmm not sure anglekay. Love the design but I dont think the toy goes with the colour of the blanket and socks. You could try using an orange ribbon and maybe a cream or yellow blanket instead? If you put a blue or white teddy on there it would look better. Just my suggestion though.

hiya bella, i'm just not hapy with it atall, the blue round the photo frame part is exactly the same blue as the blanket in real life, i don't have any orange ribbon and won't get a chance to buy any before i need to get it posted, the teddies are too big for 3 tiers i got them really cheap, a box of 24 that worked out at £1.23 each teddy delivered and i like them but having trouble getting them to go with the cakes. I'm thinking of taking out the dark blue socks and using a pair the same colour as the others thats on there, and swapping the white ribbon for a more yellow coloour i have see if that helps any. otherwise i'm going to have to put on a 2nd tier and a smaller teddy, i have to use this blanket thats the only thing.
    hmmmmm

Yep any colour ribbon the same as the toy will do the trick. I can see the frame does go with the blanket so you just need to match up one or two more colours. I agree take out the dark blue socks. Do you have any red, orange coloured socks or any red or green ribbon kicking about? I have the perfect coloured ribbon here! its stripey orange and green and yellow! Maybe some left over from Christmas? Failing that use the yellow, if that doesnt help then how about some dark blue ribbon tied in a bow around the neck of the toy?
Sorry I'm no help really! If you'd like some ribbon let me know I could a post some out to you depending on how soon you need it.
