hi all :hello:
had an order today for a nappy cake and they wanted to spend £50:eek: i couldn't believe my ears i am so pleased :j, i will try and put a pic of it on here later.
i was just starting to think about giving up on it because i did a fayre on sunday and didn't sell a thing but this has changed my mind.
i love the sock bouquet and the nappy cakes that have been put on here recently you are all so talented. In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it0 -
AngelKay I just wanted to say the clothes bouquets aren't my cup of tea but I can appreciate the work that goes into them and the idea. However I just wanted to say that they must be a lot of peoples cup of tea because John Lewis sell some very expensive versions! I'm not a great fan of them because I'm not keen on fake flowers more than anything (probably something to do with doing floristry!).0

Lovely pictures, been reading all though the thread today and everyone is doing a great job.
can i ask a sillyish question, do you have to make the cakes out of nappies? i know its called nappy cake but can you just make it out of baby stuff like the towels and bibs? Just i want to make one for someone for xmas and never done it before and really dont have a clue what nappy brand they use. Dont want to make one out of one they have no intention of using.
Hi there, nappy cakes are generally made out of nappies (Huggies & Pampers seem to be the most popular), However I have made "mum 2 be/pamper cakes" using Bath towel, Hand towel, Face flannels and plenty of bath pamper items. I have also made a "Birthday Cake" for a 1 year old, but this contained nappies, pjs, trainer cup, cutlery set, soft toy, socks, book (instead of cake board). I bet you can use what you want but I find using nappies as the main content (foundation) is easier and most nappies cost between 8p and 15p each, so if you use 35 the cost of nappies only comes to £5.25 max.
I charge the following
1 tier bathtime £20.00
1 tier christening cake from £20 - £35
1 tier bedtime cake £18.00
2 tier cake £25
3 tier cake £35
I make most profit on my 3 tier cakes and they seem to be my best sellers.0 -

thanks very much
i just emailed my friend the same pic and she hated it her words were "who wants to buy some rolled up socks and a vest with fake flowers" ah well you win some you loose some back to the drawing board i guess
Nice friend! I have given a few cakes as gifts now and they are always well received. I am jealous as I would love to attempt a bouquet of socks and clothes as good as yours but think I would end up eating the cellophane in frustration.
I think your friend could be jealous too as she isn't as creative as you possibly...
I haven't been on the board or posted on it in yonks - what happened to the old one? Should I keep reading this thread backwards to get an idea or can anyone update me in a sentence?0 -
focus888, I think your twin boy cake is gorgeous. The colours look perfect and having different blues give the cake more dimension. (does that sound pretentious?)0
