I know I'm a newbie on here but I had to come on and tell you I've just had the first look at my new website, it's very exciting! Won't be ready for a few more weeks I reckon but very exciting all the same. :j

I made a wedding towel cake for a wedding we're going to on Sat which I'm pleased with although it took ages to get the towels folded right! Put a full sized bottle of champagne inside and a small box of truffles with a topper on top. Will post some pics when I get a minute. I've been invited along with my cakes to the launch of a breastfeeding group this Thursday, I have no cakes made up so better get baking!!!

Thank you all for your comments.
I have started up a face book page but was wondering how you all advertise your cakes and get event bookings.

    Hi ladies,

It goes without saying the cakes being posted are great, this thread really does put a smaile on my face.

Need to pick your brains,im doing a low budget also rather quick (as in saturday) baby shower, was wondering if any of you creative ladies could give me ideas on effective table decs and something to give as a favour to put on the table? I no the baby is a boy which makes life a little easier for ballons etc,but all the decorations ive looked at in the shop are very expensive.I have made a nappy cake which she has already had,and tried a sock bouquet but the less said about that the better lol......any ideas would be greatly welcomed

    TIA Emma x

    Hi Emma,

What about cupcakes? Can you bake! I did these ones for work a few weeks ago, they're dead easy. Just make up your sponge mixture and put it in the bottom of the cornet cups and bake them in the oven. You need a swirly nozzle on a piping bag and pipe buttercream in a swirl around the top of the cakes going up each time you come round again. It will then look like a "Mr Whippy"

How about sweeties threaded onto a BBQ kebab stick?
How about a guess the date time and weight chart - something for the mum 2 be to keep as a memento?
Did the cupcake in cones for DD bakesale - they create quite a talking point!

Hi Emma, my friend had a baby shower and did guess the food in the nappy, her mum mixed up mustard and other foods that look like poo and put it in a nappy and we had to guess the food! That was funny, some people were licking it!!! She also had guess the baby food with jars with the labels covered up. She also hung a long piece of ribbon up and we had the mark what we thought the circumference of her bump was, i.e how far the ribbon went round her! They gave away favours by filling jars with jelly babies and putting a ribbon round.
