Help with USB dongle insurance

Not sure if this is the right place to post or not, if not please feel free to move.

I have 2 mobile broadband dongles with vodafone, both have been insured at a cost of £6.99 pm with there cover me insurance. I have just last week upgraded my mobile and was given 3 months free insurance. I received the terms and conditions today- which I didn't receive with the dongles, which states that on a USB the insurance should be £3.50pm and no excess in the event of a claim.

I claimed on one of my policies last year after I lost my dongle and had to pay £25.00 excess. As I didn't receive T & C, I was just wondering if this has just been changed? I have tried looking for old T & C online but can't find anything.

If I have been charged correctly i'm not bothered but if I have been over charged I can contact them without looking stupid.

Many thanks.

Since the dongles cost at most £50, what is the point of paying £83.88 p.a to insure them? Excess or no excess, it would be cheaper to replace it at your own cost, even if you lost one every year.

I presume these are contract dongles and the insurance would cover you if the person who 'found' the lost/stolen dongle then used it and
downloaded massive amounts of data, leaving you to pay for any excess Gb's, otherwise why bother insuring themat all,
also if you call them straight away when its lost/stolen then wouldnt it be like a lost or stolen credit card and you are not liable after
they have been advised ???, sound like dongle insurance is a bit of a con
  • Thanks for your replies, I got the insurance because I got told they would cost £100+ each to replace- they saw me coming. The other reason is one of them I got for my brother- in case he lost it, I didn't want to be stuck with a high usage bill.- it would prob take him 2 weeks to look for it and tell me!

I would cancel but don't think I can as I made a claim, but if I can get back what they have over charged me that would be good.

If anyone has got the t & c of the insurance from last year and can advise it would be appreciated.
