in Credit cards
Is this backed by MBNA? I'm thinking of getting one as im going to Colorado soon for 3 weeks (work so im not too worried about exchange rates for the bigger stuff as i'm expensing
)
How quick would it come? I've just had a virgin card almost a month so im wondering if id get denied it? (i've payed £6k off my student loan and reduced my credit limit on my AMEX by 6k too since so i dunno if that works in my favour)
Speaking of which would paying off a student loan come up on a credit report?

As far as I know, Nationwide issue their own cards. Student loans do not show up on your credit file unless you default etc.0

Nationwide is backed by Nationwide (not MBNA), they charge no commission on transactions abroad, and the exchange rate I have found to be very good (I got 1 euro 50 to the £1 last time I went to Spain and the post office was offering 1 euro 40 at the time)
I don;t think student loans show on your credit report.
If you ring them today to apply, they will be able to tell you how long it will take for the card to come. With Christmas I don't think it will come in three weeks. But it is worth having one anyway and you get six month 0%.I'm married now! Yippee!0 -
Phoned them they reckon 7 - 10 days which might be in time
I'm going to go down the branch and do it all (to reduce the time there) on monday and see how quick they turn it around (bit worried about the number of cards i've applied recently but we'll see when i get down there)Money, Money, Money ..... Apply for an AMEX card via Greasy Palm (££ cashback from GP if accepted), and you'll get 2% cashback from AMEX on your first three months spending.0 -
I already have an AMEX and its down to 1% after the 3 months (even though they advertised 2% for 6 months when i applied
)
I was thinking that but then nationwide is 1% anyway, and i figure with the USA exchange rate being what it is then i might as well BUY, BUY, BUY lots of gatgets and random other stuff i probabily dont need!!!!...
I'm so just going to spend as much of my companies money on food/other stuff for the cashbackMoney, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....0 -
I would recommend Nationwide.
You can get more than 1 introductory offer if you switch cards.
I got the Classic card first, to stooze the £5K they gave me for 6 months. Then I asked to change to the cashback version and got 6 months at 1% cachback.
PS - Supose you might want to do it the other way around if you'll be using the card for some big foreign currency spending0 -

As a second line of attack, and if your representations for the NWBS CC don't work, then how about opening a Nationwide Flexaccount?
Admittedly this doesn't get you their introductory 1% cashback offer when spending on the Visa debit card, but it will bring you cash out of foreign holes-in-the-wall at no transaction fee, and all at NWBS's attractive exchange rate. I doubt that they'd reject you as a current account customer unless you have a seriously damaged credit history.0 -
You can't have two Current accounts though can you? (i dont wanna change accounts unless necessary)

Personally I've got four, the NWBS one being reserved for access to eSavings and foreign cash withdrawals. There's nothing about paying in salary to a Flexaccount in their T&Cs. You can only ask!0
