And don't forget that you can make Delia Smith's All in One white sauce. She says to plonk it all in together and then stir. She assured in her programme that the small amount of fat would prevent lumps and she was right.

Absolutely - I just bung all the ingredients in a pan and heat them together. You have to stand over it, stirring all the time (the Lakeland miniwhisks are brilliant for this) but there's never been a lump yet. :T0 -
Hi Sarahlou
Re the washing up liquid - I bought a basics pump thingy (sorry can't remember the correct title) from Wilkinsons (19p) and pour my WUL into this, and just use 1 or 2 pumps depending on the make of WUL I am using. I find that it makes it last sooo much longer than using straight from the bottle you buy it from.
What other supermarkets do you live near? Do you have an Aldi/Lidl or a Home Bargains or B&M? Home Bargains have some greatly reduced food stuffs and if you really need crisps, they are so cheap in there.
Why not use an old handwash bottle washed out.
That is what we do.

I agree with what others have said re: making your own things instead of buying ready prepared options. You could also cut down a lot buy eating less meat as there seems to be a lot there, although it comes down to whether you want/need to do that. good luck either way
Also, what is a gel boat? I'm so intrigued!August grocery challenge: £50

There is what looks like a decimal point before the quantity.

I could feed a family of 4 for a month on that amount of money. Go back to basics and cook from raw materials. You pay a lot for things like diced onions and sliced mushrooms. You can buy a 2 kilo bag of onions in london for 99p.
